My father was a councilman for over 30 years. He told me to never, ever call him a politician. He was the most honest man I've ever known. Not everyone running for office lies, believe it or not.

Oh PUHLEEZE, I am certain your father was a great man of high integrity, and perhaps he was one of only a small handful of public servants in American history who has never lied, ever.
But a rare exception to the rule is not really relevant to this discussion.
