That said is there anything stupider politically that you can imagine than attacking patriotism when our troops are in the field and in the same sentence attacking Christianity at Christmas?

Yes, he could have expanded his comment to include blacks and Jews.

I'm sorry, where's the "attack" on patriotism and religion? Please see the transcript snippet in post # 7; I didn't see where he said that patriotism and religion were synonymns for fascism. He's talking about Mike Huckabee's campaign tactics.

It would seem to me that it's only "politically stupid" if the majority of the audience is subject to fits of hypersensitivity and/or overreaction - it would be expected of them to categorize any remarks Ron Paul makes in that context. As evidenced.
