I would be happy to vote for Thompson. Duncan Hunter is still my first choice, but Fred is my second. However, this stuff:

Fred Thompson returned to Iowa with a re-invigorated pitch

Really bothers me. It seems like every 2-3 weeks, Fred's campaign is re-invigorated and really "picks up steam". I've been seeing these hopeful stories ever since August. But I have never detected energy or enthusiasm from the Thompson team. I think he's trudging toward the finish line, while others are sprinting. Saying he's "re-invigorated" and actually being re-invigorated are two different things.

Fred has to first be invigorated before he can be re-invigorated...

That's MSM editorializing in a supposed "news" piece.

MSM lies.

All the time.

About everything.

Even when they slip and say something true, it's not the whole truth.

Kind of like the NFL. You want to peak at just the right time.

Dirty little secret: Fred has had as many stops a day or more than the other candidates. It is simply reported as lackadazical and no fire in the belly. It’s the MSM template, don’t you know?

I think he's saying that because he feels the need to respond to the incessant MSM stories that he's "lazy" or "not committed to the race"

Politically..I think he's playing it correctly. He felt esrly on that no clear cut favorite would emerge from the early races..so why waste the effort and money. I think the push in Iowa now is because they don't believe ( nor do I) the polls showing Huckabee's lead.

I like Hunter too but I don’t believe the MSM’s descriptions of Thompson’s “vigor” is accurate. He appears to be as “vigorous” as the other candidates, to me.

They must have a negative. What else have they got???

He’s not the one who used the term “reinvigorated.” The liberal journalist did. The MSM can’t talk about Fred’s positions lest the people figure out who the real conservative is in the race. Hence the ad hominum attacks.

Smart voters consider the source and judge accordingly. The campaign has never said it needed to be invigorated, and, in fact, a study by Gannett Newspapers found that Fred was second, after John McCain, in frequency of campaign stops.

It’s too bad that so many FReepers are unthinkingly playing into the hands of the media and the Dems by parroting the “lazy” line. You’d think they’d know better.

Hunter is, intellectually speaking, also my first choice. But he never seems to get more than about 2% of the polls. I can’t support someone who can’t raise money, can’t get any attention and can’t move up in the polls at all. Fred is the next best thing (and he doesn’t fall short by much at all), so he’s got my vote.

Hunter will make a SUPERB Secretary of Defense in the Thompson Administration, and will nicely complement John Bolton over at State.

I second your sentiments. Although both have some faults, they are the closest we can get to conservatism.

The MSM has brainwashed you. You are viewing Thompson thru their prism. Everytime you see him, you think, "no fire in the belly." I guess the MSM could repeatedly mention a hairy mole on Hillary's lip, so that everytime you saw her, you would immediately focus on her lip. Marketing people do it all the time to push their product. It is called branding.

But how is thompson going to overcome Huckabee’s “more christian than thou” campaign attack. Iowa appears to be suseptible to tossing their votes away on the nearest evangelical. (see Pat Robertson) which will mean squat in the rest of the primary.

If that is the case then Iowa is truly an irrelevant race.
