ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president Bush's son, George W. Bush.
"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.
A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment on whether the former president would chip in some diplomatic help after his son leaves office next year.

Ok ...It is past time for the Bush family to play nice
right G H W Bush?
BJ presents a problem for me: I do not know whom to detest more...him or Jimmuh.
By the end of 2008 we will have had 20 years of Clinton and Bush. Enough is enough.
I wonder if George Bush the younger will every figure out why I was so danged unhappy about his use of Bill Clinton during his Presidency. Not going after Clinton was something I didn't agree with, but I learned to accept it, but to actually give the guy a position of honor?
Simply amazing...
“Bill Clinton said former president George H.W. Bush will he lp fix damage done to America’s reputation by his son, George W. Bush.”
Well, at least whatever negative effect the MSM was able to help create, that can at least be fixed.
The damage to America’s reputation that Bill Clinton caused, cannot.
We’ve had a Bush or a Clinton in the White House since January 1981. Bush the first was the V.P. for Reagan. If Hillary were to be elected to the Presidency, we would stand a very good chance of having a Bush or a Clinton in the White House for 35 straight years.
Can I throw up now.
I now understand why Old Bush lost to Clinton to begin with in 1992....Because he’s an idiot. It’s not the young Bush who’s stupid, it’s his old man. And I voted for 41. What a waste. To think that Bush Sr. would even talk to a Clinton after the way they have treated his son....his own son whose first agenda item was to undo the damage created by his father’s (GHW Bush’s) tax hike. Disgusting. If this is true, he’s disloyal to his own son. He’s treating Clinton better than he is his own flesh and blood.
What a boring blowhard. Clinton is the perfect icon for his generation of idiots who think getting away with oral sex makes him cool. If it wasn't for Lewinsky, he wouldn't be nearly as popular as he is with his constituency. He's all about the "bad boy" thing.
He has never said anything of interest, yet he has this rep as a great communicator because he can yammer on and on at the drop of the hat. The perfect role model for self-obsessed bores everywhere.
I hate to say it/ but you're right.
The families plan on sitting down during the Christmas Holiday (is that PC to write?) in Kenneybunkport to talk about the role of GHWB in the Clinton WH.
America must keep the dynasty going. s/
That’s enough to give one nightmares.

Bill Clinton really is delusional, isn’t he?
The ego of the people in indescribable. Another reason that there will never be a USS Bill Clinton aircraft carrier. It couldn’t contain his ego.
George H.W. Bush isn’t the idiot. The idiot is anyone who actually believes any of the crap that BJ Clinton spews.
You mean Bill would go to Kosovo and promise the money to get his statue finished.
Desperate attempt to placate the moonbats, and give the “impression” that it’s actually Bill in charge for the Iowa Democrats...
What’s truly sad, Hillary thinks the average Democrat voter really is that stupid, and many Democrat Voters actually will buy into this nonsense...
"I would fall for this sort of thing, except that the CLinton campaign telegraphed that this is exactly what they were planning on doing - showing the softer side of Hillary, in a campaign swing through Iowa on her "Hilly copter".
No, I kid you not, that was the latest big idea from highly paid political consultants - "Hilly Copter". I feel sorry for people who contributed to the campaign and had their money wasted on that.
So Hillary crying is not real, it is another faked-up campaign deal. And I know this because the campaign told us they were going to do this a week ago.
It's like Al Gore or John Kerry all over again. She's not going to figure out that she just has to be HERSELF until it is too late.
People can tell from 100 yards away when it is an act and when it is real. And Hillary comes off as an act.
Which is too bad."
This stuff is almost as good as reading DU.

In the public arena, I believe it is somewhat appropriate to couch your comments. I wouldn’t want to see the Elder Bush popping off on Clinton, any more than I want to see Carter shoot his mouth off on policy.
That being said, the Clintons basicly took a dump on both Presidents Bush. I would never have agreed to participate in any public effort that included Bill Clinton. I don’t care how positive the effort was.
Bill Clinton is a criminal. He skated, and I accept that, but there isn’t a chance in hell that I would help to rehab his standing.
It’s my guess now that Clinton is speaking out of school. I don’t think Bush has signed on to anything of the like. However, it is remotely possible he did. And if so, your comments are right on target IMO. I sure hope he had enough class not to have done so.
Thanks.
