It's time for a hummingbird report; thank you all for your interest. Ahem. Bringing GeeBee's post over from the WFW thread:
Booboo and I follow your stories every day. This has been so much fun! We think we will hear about them fighting over the feeder though. We also hope she has another nest right after this one! :)
Progress is speeding up. As soon as the sun warmed the nest this morning, Junior was busy practicing his "hum." He got a little bit aloft, but I cannot see whether he's holding on to the nest with his feet or not. Momma Sweet Marie hovered close to him a while ago while he hummed. She seemed very excited, then she poked at him to get him away from the nest. He wasn't buying that...:) Yeah, she actually tried to knock him out, lol. She will lovingly harass him into this... what a sight!
He is so cute, wish you all could see him. I know, my bad for not having vid cam or digital. I did take some Advantix photos, but the tree is backlit, we'll see how they come out. End of report.
Mothers have a hard time, sometimes , pushing their child out of the nest..Good luck Sweet Marie!

Well, I was so glad to hear the report on Sweet Marie and Junior. I was positive that Jr. would fly today but he won’t go until he is sure he can make it. It is so cute her trying to coax him out of the nest. This has been most interesting. I hadn’t heard from you and had to leave to go to my Red Hats Luncheon. I haven’t read this whole thread....in all that time Jr. could be gone~~~LOL~~ maybe tomorrow we will have a “going away” party! Then what will we do??
