I Was on the Waterboard
Self | 12/11/2007 | Mariner

Posted on 12/11/2007 8:59:40 PM PST by Mariner

I am an honorably discharged US Military member that was subject to the Waterboard in SERE school circa 1979-1980.

I'm certain there are other ex military member that would like to join me in testifying to both the US Congress and the US Media that this procedure, while effective, is not torture.

If the majority of the American people knew that this was an act that US service members are subject to, it would disappear off the front pages of every newspaper and news show in the country.

Sign up. State you were waterboarded. Jim Robinson can collect our logins and provide our info to a brave Congress Person or member of the administration.

Let's send the dims and the media running and looking stupid while doing so.

If Al-Quaeda waterboarded a captured Marine to force him to reveal his friends' position, I'd call that torture. I hope others would too.

Al Qaeda doesn't water board captured Marines or any other captured American servicemen, they beat them, they electrocute them, they bleed them, they smash their genitalia with hammers, they carve them, they burn them, they whip them, they stab them, they mutilate them, they castrate them, they stab them, They do things to our captured Servicemen that make what the Japanese did to the survivors of Bataan seem like a San Francisco sissy boy love fest, but they don't waterboard them.

Waterboarding is done by those that don't want to physically harm those waterboarded.

If a man speaks the truth and no one hears it because the media doesn’t report it, does he make a diffence?

Nice work. Your words and the pictures put this well into perspective.

The issue really doesn’t have anything to do with waterboarding. The Dims have had more than one opportunity to pass legislation that includes language defining waterboarding as torture and making it illegal. They have not done so, yet they continue to try to bust the administration’s chops with these torture charges.

To beat them back, put the pressure back on them to pass legislation that lines up with their rhetoric. Paint them as hypocrites 24/7.

if you’re in front of Teddy Kennedy, since he’s against waterboarding, remind him how more people have died in his Oldsmobile than by the waterboard.

“if only one life is saved it would be worth it”?

Thank You !!! trudged through 94 posts of whining debate about treating savages as equals and not subjecting them to the same TRAINING techniques used on our own people, just to find this gem.

Also "THANK YOU " for your service to all here who have been there done that...

you have chosen your screen name appropriately.

It's not coincidence.

God has a hand in a lot of these things that, at first glance, look like coincidence.

Left vs Right is one of the most obvious.

I’d rather have ollie present that program, he’s got the military background to add credibility to the report, I think alot of Sean, but this is something better presented by somone who has “been there done that” in a military service sense. Not that it would matter all that much to the Drivebys or the Libs....

“You have NO IDEA whether this is a difference. YOU haven’t “been there, done that”.”

First, I haven’t been there and done that.

Second, I’m not questioning the use of waterboarding. I’m sure it was appropriate when used.

BUT, when you were waterboarded were you told that unless you confessed you would die from it? If so, did you believe it? If not, that’s the difference between the two.

My question to you- what would you suggest? Would you, for example, sacrifice your family, your friends to a terrorist attack if intel could have been obtained via waterboarding that would have prevented their deaths?

Yes. Better the universe perish than one sin. We can't do evil so that good may come of it.

Are you willing to sacrifice limited government and American principles to save a few lives?

You've heard of "What would Jesus say"?

Re: Waterboarding - What would those hanging out of the WTC windows (in your photo) say?

May I suggest that there is a qualitative difference between being subjected to waterboarding under controlled conditions where you are assured of the professional conduct of your fellow soldiers, and being subjected to waterboarding as a captured enemy combatant at the mercy of angry, determined interrogators?

May I suggest that you've leaped to a conclusion that the interrogators aren't professional, and that they are angry..and that these techniques weren't done under "controlled" circumstances.

Just a suggestion....unless you actually know for certain otherwise.

Lofty.

But my question remains- what is your suggestion? What do you think are appropriate measures? Is it ok to threaten, lie, coerce? Is it ok to play loud, offensive music? Is it alright to use drip, drip, drip?

I agree! I cannot remember a time in history where our congress fought against any technique used to get the enemy to come clean. This info should never have been put out there to begin with. Of course the enemy that is the most damaging is our elected leftist officials.

It's mind numbing to watch these terrorist sympathizers of islamofacism. Yet our people in uniform get beheaded and drug through the streets of Baghdad.

Is that so? Please tell us what are the "qualitative differences" are.

Yes.

Bullsh**. If it were you're wife or kid at risk of death you'd put the electrodes on some AQ thug's testicles yourself.

Anyone who says anything differently is either lying or a moral reprobate so low they don't deserve to live amongst civilized people.
