Assam grew up in Sioux Falls, N.D. ,has a degree in criminal justice from Hamline University, worked with the Minneapolis Police for several years, and is 42 years of age.
I believe Sioux Falls is in South Dakota.
Unfortunately the South Dakotans get to claim her.

Yeah, and that lousy police department fired her. I bet today she’ll receive lots of offers after taking the perp down. Maybe, he did kill himself...but she hit him a number of times even with his protective gear...knocked him off his feet warned him to stop...and proceeded to fire.
