Terri's Day Announced - March 31 - Groups Call for Special Remembrances of Terri Schiavo
LifeSiteNews ^ | 12/10/07 | LifeSiteNews

NEW YORK, December 10, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life have jointly announced the establishment of the "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters" ("Terri's Day"), to be observed each year on March 31, the date of Terri's death.

The purpose of the day, the groups explained, is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.

Fr. Frank Pavone said, "Those of us who were with Terri will never forget her life and her death. For the sake of all the vulnerable, it is critically important that those who never knew Terri likewise remember the lessons that God taught us through her."

Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri's sister, adds, "No family should ever have to witness what my family witnessed, watching a loved one slowly dehydrate to death. We want Terri's day to remind us all that persons with disabilities are never burdens and should be treated with nothing but our unconditional love and compassion."

In the early weeks of 2008, educational and prayer materials will be released that can be used by parishes, disability and pro-life groups and all communities to observe Terri's Day.

You know I saw that they have now cloned cats with an added feature that makes them glow in the dark. I think there might be a way to turn this into a lucrative business. Someone should start cloning deer so they glow in the dark, this would have two immediate benefits: drivers would be less likely to hit them and hunters would have a far easier time spotting them.

Bobby Schindler and the Lynch mob...

...............................

December 14, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terri Shiavo, the young woman who was dehydrated to death in Florida in 2005, has become a prominent opponent of euthanasia since that wrenching time for his family. In a recent Challenge magazine interview with Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, Schindler revealed the shocking details of the support from many prominent Catholic clergy for the court ordered removal of food and hydration from Terri. Bobby is a practicing Catholic as was his sister.

Schindler stated that his sister "was not dying, not attached to any type of machinery and was only being sustained by food and water via a feeding tube." He noted that Catholic teaching does not allow a person "regardless of any advanced directive or even the sworn testimony of another person" to refuse food and water with the intent to cause their own death or that of another.

Still, Fr. Gerard Murphy of the Diocese of St. Petersburgh, Florida actually helped Judge Greer make the decision to dehydrate and starve Terri to death. Fr. Murphy did not consult with any members of Terri's family and did not even visit Terri. Murphy did however consult with Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, an assisted suicide/euthanasia activist, and testified on behalf of Michael Schiavo.

Bishop Lynch of the Diocese of St. Petersburg refused to help the family stop the euthanasia death order and supported Father Murphy's seriously flawed position. The bishop eventually issued a confusing statement that was of no help to the situation and after that the Florida bishops supported Bishop Lynch's position...........................

Fred and Terri tar baby dailies....

Thompson, fresh from the TV screen, was supposed to be the savior. But the laid-back Tennesseean entered the race without seeming energy or interest.

He campaigned at the Iowa State Fair from the VIP tent. He went to Florida and said he really couldn't remember the sequence of events in that Terry Schiavo matter............

Ga. law allowing doctors to unplug life support challenged -- Family says doctors at Emory Eastside Medical Center was prepared to end with or without their consent

Alicia Fennell had just one hour to save her husband's life. Doctors at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Snellville said he was brain dead and being kept alive by life support. She and her children doubted the diagnosis, sensing that somehow Donald Fennell was still aware. The hospital was preparing to pull the plug at 5 p.m. Dec. 4, with or without the family's consent, but a last-ditch effort to stop the hospital was about to play out at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. The struggle between hospital and family occurred because the Fennells, like many people, didn't know Georgia law leaves the final decision on discontinuing life support for brain-dead patients to doctors, not family members.

The family will bury Donald Fennell on Saturday in Daytona Beach, Fla., near his home in Palm Coast. What they cannot bury is a lingering frustration with a hospital they say treated them unfairly and a law that leaves families out of the loop. The hospital declined to discuss specifics of the case because of patient confidentiality, but issued a statement saying, "we are confident, based on the assessment of numerous physicians who consulted on this patient's care, that he has received the highest quality care available."................

There was a Father Murphy who was RUN OVER and died. Is this that Fr. Murphy? Lynch refused to pray the Rosary for the suffering, dying Terri. He was at the rectory, was approached by a Catholic and he REFUSED. He’s a heretic.

It is a lengthy read but worth perusing...

......................................

....................The Hugh Finn case in Virginia in 1998 and the Terri Schindler Schiavo case in Florida in 2005 showed how successful the mercy killers are at manipulating language to bring about the elimination of those they consider useless eaters. Neither Hugh nor Terri was dying or in a coma. Both were severely brain-damaged but awake and at least minimally aware. Both laughed at their dads' jokes and could track objects with their eyes. But Hugh's wife, Michelle, and Terri's husband, Michael, wanted them dead. Both spouses refused the ones they swore to love "in sickness and in health" the most basic therapy to improve their conditions.

A new weapon in the death camp's arsenal emerged during Schiavo's ordeal: hospice. The movement founded to offer compassionate care to the terminally ill was perverted to aid and abet Terri's active murder. Although hospice admission requires a patient to be terminal with life expectancy of only six months, Michael transferred the living, not dying, Terri to Hospice of the Florida Sun Coast. The move was illegal. Once there, hospice cooperated with an immoral court order to deny Terri food and water. Terri became terminal when her caregivers starved and dehydrated her. Given similar treatment even an Olympic athlete is terminal.

Terri's case gave a big push to living wills. These documents supposedly guarantee control over treatment if one becomes incompetent; however, they often become death warrants. Many include sections refusing medical care to prolong life -- from resuscitation to artificial feeding. A person who goes into cardiac arrest during surgery, for example, might survive and thrive with aggressive treatment, but doctors refuse it because provisions in the living will deny "extraordinary" care. Increasingly, extraordinary care means any care at all: food and water, antibiotics for infection, even an aspirin for a headache. If the individual with a living will suffers a life-threatening complication, the likelihood of non-treatment and death by neglect (and morphine drip) is a real threat.

And where do these documents originate? The first living will appeared in 1967 developed by the Euthanasia Society of America. Today many organizations promoting "living wills" are actively seeking legalization of assisted suicide and active euthanasia. They include Choice in Dying, Death with Dignity Education Center, Compassion in Dying and End-of-Life Choices (Hemlock Society). The last two combined in 2005 as Compassion and Choices. It is hard to keep track of all these organizations because they change names, putting on the mask of compassion to cover up the death's head underneath. ..............................

This is The Moderate Voice about Huckabee. Not sure what it infers... Does it infer Ronald Reagan would swallow the media mantra and demand Terri be killed???

However, acknowledging the importance of faith and kow-towing to religious interests to the exclusion of viewing the American polity to an entity in which it serves everyone if the point is to aggregate interests — as opposed to aggravate opposing interests — is different from the trend within the GOP in recent years. The Terri Schiavo fiasco would never have occurred under Ronald Reagan’s GOP …or even the first George Bush’s GOP.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Target Corp. is defending its policy on filling prescriptions for emergency contraception after the Planned Parenthood Federation of America accused the retailer of disrespecting customers' reproductive rights.

Target allows pharmacists to choose not to fill requests for emergency contraception, also known as Plan B, if it is against their religious beliefs.

Thanks, FV, for bringing this to our attention. Helen Valois, long an ally, has written about the White Rose, our symbol. Eternal thanks to BykrBayb...

On February 22, 1943, Hans Scholl, his sister Sophie, and their friend and associate Christoph Probst were executed by the Nazis. Their "crime" was the distribution of leaflets calling for a just and free government. This little group of students, mainly, was called the White Rose; they only managed to produce six handouts before being detected and fatally dealt with by Roland Freisler, one of the most agenda-driven of National Socialism's notorious judges. The Scholls and their confreres were, in effect, the principles bloggers of their day, expressing suppressed truth in the only format they could get any kind of access to.............................

As my head spins...

I guess I am supposed to believe global warming is hard fact, embryonic stem cell research is sound science although it has produced zero results, and the assessment of Terri's plight was effected on solid scientific grounds. Karl Marks would be so tickled. As I reread it, I begin to think that to libs, science is a religion in itself, a faith that can consider black to be white, good to be bad, hate to be love.

.................................

Whether the issue is global warming, embryonic stem-cell research, ballistic missile defense or the future of the world's oceans, the same bass line thumps in the background: Sound political decision-making relies, more than ever, on accurate scientific information.

As advances in science and technology continually transform our world, policy-making will inevitably depend more and more on accurate scientific and technical information. Which means that to be a successful world leader today, a politician must have an effective means of accessing and applying the latest science.

~Snip~

Our next president needn't be a memorizer of facts, but he or she most definitely should understand how to critically analyze data and should embrace a broad empiricism in national and world affairs.

We've seen science form the basis of some of the thorniest public policy issues in recent history, from Terri Schiavo to teaching evolution in schools to the fate of the Earth. A presidential debate on science would help voters determine who among the candidates is up to dealing with whatever comes next.

Next U.S. President should be science-friendly

Wagglebee has a thread on a powerful story of a woman with huge courage, to persevere no matter what. It is also a good example of why some of us couples are armed and carry in these days of a new lawlessness.

..............................

Dawn Weiss counts off, each numeral propelling her closer to launch. She rocks her torso, places her hands, aims for the target – a bed or a chair or a seat in a car.

“I never realized how heavy my legs are until I tried to pick them up,” she said.

Her husband, Mike, is there every time she begins that count, waiting on one knee in front of her, a man in perpetual proposal. He grabs her hips, bracing her weight against his own, helping her make the transition. “I get scared when he’s not with me, if he’s not next to me,” Dawn said.

In May, robbers shot Dawn five times on Redmon Road in Norfolk. The bullets fractured two vertebrae and burned her spinal cord, paralyzing her from the chest down. Other bullets shattered the bones in her arms, leaving her with limited motion.

Always something smelled fishy about Roe. It attracts flies and trolls...

Thread by wagglebee.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the term, "September 11th", almost instantly became a household phrase. It represents a day of great tragedy and outrage wherein over 3,000 people were murdered at the hands of Islamic extremists who chose to callously sacrifice innocent human life to further a narrow and selfish political agenda.

But another date, January 22nd, which is not so well known, signifies an equally outrageous and solemn occasion. January 22, 2008, marks the 35th anniversary of what is, unquestionably, one of the U.S. Supreme Court's most highly controversial and divisive rulings in its two-hundred-plus year history - Roe v. Wade.

In another thread by wagglebee, euthanasia again...

Christopher Buckley's dark satire Boomsday imagines a Social Security crisis that pits the generations against each other, and a public relations campaign to persuade older Americans to do the "right" thing and check out early. There are even financial incentives and free Botox if you schedule your suicide.
