I really don't understand this trend in this country to hail people as heroes for doing the job they were hired to do. Yes, this woman did a very good job and did save many lives, but that is why she was hired. I heard the pastor saying that the guard was there because there was alarm about the shooting near Denver.Hi blondie,
Looks like you missed the part where it's made clear that the shooter was a volunter parishioner, not a hired guard... ?

Our church has volunteer security guards who patrol the building and parking lots during services to prevent theives from stealing stuff from cars. Perhaps a suggestion should be made that those guards be packing as well.
Washington is a “Shall Issue” CCW state. And I do know that many of our members own and shoot firearms...including my pastor.

Although she was indeed a parishioner she was also a part of the security force for the church and normaly guarded the pastor ... she was a volunter with the security force and a hero in that capacity.

Looks like you missed the part where it's made clear that the shooter was a volunter parishioner, not a hired guard... ? Add to that the fact that she used her personal weapon -- it is not referred to as a *service revolver* or such that police officers/hired security have their weapons named.
