What does this have to do with the incident we are discussing though? If he was a homeschooled Christian white male (which some reports are hinting at), then odds are he doesn’t listen to gangsta rap...

Would listening to ganster rap, or playing violent games lead one to commit mass murders? I would honestly say ONLY if that person has a propensity to do these things in the first place. Listening to these songs, or playing these games does NOT make someone commit these crimes...

It reminds me of something a teacher of mine mentioned back in High School — that there was a study that “proved” listening to rock music increses teen pregnancy (and this was way before talk of sex was open in the music itself). They had supposedly interviewed pregnant teens and found that something like 90% of them had listened to rock music in the 24 hours before becoming pregnant and thus it was the music that “made them do it”.

Do I disagree that listening to gangster rap for instance doesn’t influence people? Of course not, but it would only have the effect you are referring to if that person didn’t already have the propensity to commit these types of acts in the first place... Again, it leads back to troubled people... That is the common denominator in ALL such actions of this type. IMHO, what these people played as far as games, or what their taste in music is really doesn’t have much bearing on how to stop this in the future.
