COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — At least four people were shot outside of a Colorado Springs church on Sunday, but it was not immediately known whether the shootings were related to an earlier shooting about 70 miles away, authorities said.

As far as I’m aware, they are still not releasing suspect’s information.

As far as I’m aware, there may be two involved at the Colorado Springs shooting and it may be linked to the Arvada shooting, no confirmation.

As far as I’m aware, the Arvada shooter is still at large.

Also, they have gone to someone’s home, taken out computers and other information...this related to the Colorado Springs shooting.

Explosives: apparently some kind of smoke bombs were found at Colorado Springs. Don’t know status on earlier statements that explosives were in a vehicle....

Thanks for the update on that. It’s been awhile and I didn’t remember.

I’ve NOT read this thread yet, and no I’m not going to read it. I live here, and I’m going to report what *I* know from local news, first hand experience and witnesses here.

1) A man attacked a Mission/church location early in the day. A description of a “White Male in his 20s, armed with a rifle, and dressed in a long black coat” went out over the airwaves.

2) in that attack two people were shot and killed. A man and a woman. The suspect fled the scene. The Mission was a youth outreach program... “To convert Muslims to Christianity”. (This fact was reported on Channel 13 last night).

3) A few hours later, a gunman walked into the foyer of the church in Colorado Springs, and started spraying bullets into the people. Last report I heard this morning said five people were hit. One died last night in Penrose Hospital.

4) An off-duty Colorado Springs Police Officer, a female, who was on duty as a security guard approached the man and “by the book” took him down. (That means she told him she was a police officer, he put her in danger, she shot him...)

5) APPARENTLY she was carrying A CONCEALED WEAPON.

6) Description of the man... “white male, in his 20s, wearing a long, black coat and carrying a rifle”.

Police are commenting this morning that there “certainly could be a connection with the shootings, however, until we finish the investigation we’re not going to say this is a definite”.

At this point, it’s my belief this was the same guy in both shootings, in two different locations nearly 90 miles apart.

That’s what I know, what I have gotten from local news and witnesses.

The lady that shot him is a hero. She stopped many more from dying.

I could be wrong, but it looks like some of the kids there were possibly troubled and turning their lives around thru Christ.

70 miles’ drive is obviously not a long drive.

I wouldn’t doubt he’d planned his day out for today.....

Give the weather and road conditions since Friday, 70 miles IS a long drive. Parts of I-25 were actually closed down on and off for short periods of time. So, that drive, which I used to make every day, twice a day, SUCKS and it is LONG and it can be bumper to bumper in the Denver area and in the Springs, AND in bad weather was treacherous.

That’s why I’m all for getting to the facts of who the guy was, did he have a home, was he hanging around the last few days checking out the place (instead of as the media suggests, being somebody who didn’t have a place to stay.)

IMHO, that’s why his name and the details of his life needs to be released because it’s being “spun” (at least the shootings in Arvada.)

An interview with the neighbors of this house where they took out the evidence is that the son of the family was raised in a "very religious" home by "strict parents" and that he was home-schooled. Sounding like this could be the shooter.

Video here.

I smell a cover-up of a protected class. If this were a white Christian militia member his face would have been plastered all over the media by now and the explosives would have been categorized by their power in terms of the McVey Oklahoma City bomb.

Fortunately, in Arvada they turned him away as if he had a gun already more youth might have died. Who really knows his intent.

Colorado, land of “gun-control.” Why am I not surprised.

I think you don't know what you're talking about. Gun Control here means "hitting your target". Denver and Boulder are the ONLY two areas in this state that are vehemently against the public carrying handguns, however, THEY were BOTH overruled by a judge and the STATE concealed carry laws win. EVERYONE in this state can carry a concealed weapon, if they apply for a permit (like most states) to carry concealed.

There are, to my knowledge NO locations (except school grounds) and certain Federal buildings, and some certain county buildings where YOU CAN NOT CARRY (that includes churches!)

So where you came up with that particular remark, I simply don't know.

Check out the video at post 1427 above. It looks like the shooter could be a home-schooled Christian.

Youth With a Mission is not cult like....any group that changes your way of thinking I guess could be considered cult like. All kinds of faiths are involved in Youth With a Mission. My son is in Australia on staff and since my husband and I came out of a cult we were very careful about his being involved there....I have read the online articles and actually asked for reference information for the base in Australia and I was given the director of the Denver base to write. Anyway, that is what I know.

From my perspective, this appears to be an "inside job." This isn't the actions of an indiscrimate hater. He chose the YWAM facility and then chose New Life church. They are connected (at least tangentially). If he wanted to kill Christians in general, there would seem to be other ways to accomplish that. I will bet that he's received some imaginary or real insult from YWAM and/or staffers from the church and acted on it.

There were “explosives”. The guy was throwing “smoke bombs” into the parking lot, presumably to hide in and escape.

The news reported “They weren’t bombs, only ‘smoke producing devices’”. Idiots.

Look, if someone is throwing smoke bombs and firing weapons into a crowd he’s 1) trained, 2) A kook who thinks he was trained, 3) attempting to stay alive and escape or 4) simply trying to hide his actions.

Those were “bombs” for all intents and purposes, because if *I* had them in MY car and got stopped for some reason, BATF would be pulling me out of the vehicle.

The media tried to obfuscate the “bomb” part of this whole thing.

YWAM is not any sort of cult.

I have been involved only peripherally, knowing people in the past who have been an intricate part of what it does/is.

Christians, from all denominations, are affiliated with this organization.

As a Christian organization, naturally, it is vehemently opposed to ACTS AND PRACTICES OF homosexuality, as that is condemned by God in both the Old and New Testaments.

I agree, I just think it is important to see what certain "hate groups" are saying about them. It's possible these "hate groups" had an influence on the shooters choice of target.

The tactical helmet thing is kind of funny. There was nothing on scanners about that.

I personally know at least 10 young people who have gone to or are presently serving on missions through YWAM. YWAM is an excellent Christian ministry that develops Christian character in people and spreads the good news of the the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been nothing but impressed with those I know who have spent any amount of time with YWAM. I only wish my two children would have gone to YWAM.

Just curious, since I can’t play video on my computer at this time - did it sound like there is just one son at that home?

The info I looked up indicates there are at least two 20somethings who might live there - 21 and 24. Maybe they are gone and this is a younger son? Could you tell from what the neighbors said or did it seem like they knew exactly who this one young male might be?
