Population Implosion
World Magazine ^ | 2/15/2003 | Gene Edward Veith

Posted on 12/08/2007 3:13:57 PM PST by Jim W N

The president of Estonia goes on national TV to urge his countrymen to have more children. Russian President Vladimir Putin warns his parliament about "a serious crisis threatening Russia's survival": the nation's low birth rate. The government of Singapore is trying to reverse that country's birth dearth by sponsoring a massive taxpayer-funded matchmaking service.

In 1968, Paul Ehrlich published The Population Bomb, panicking the world with dire predictions of a population explosion. By the year 2000, he predicted, the world would be so crowded that hundreds of millions would die of starvation. Although Mr. Ehrlich's prophecies have turned out to be almost comically wrong, PBS has produced a documentary taking him seriously, and philanthropists like Ted Turner still donate millions to combat population growth.

But the problem today is not overpopulation; it's under-population. For a population to reproduce itself, the fertility rate must average 2.1 children per woman. (The .I allows for child mortality.) The fertility rate today among major developed nations is only 1.6.

The United States is rare among its peers in keeping its fertility rate at around the replacement level of 2.1, according to the Population Reference Bureau, which provided the fertility data cited here. Europe, though, is shrinking. Germany's rate is 1.3. Despite the stereo-type of large Catholic families, France has a fertility rate of 1.9 and Italy has one of the lowest in Europe, 1.3. At this rate, there will be only about half as many Italians in the next generation. There will also be fewer Russians, whose fertility rate is 1.3.

2007 update: 50 million U.S. citizens missing. They're not found and are presumed to have been killed as unborn infants in modern-day death camps (called "abortion clinics" and "Planned Parenthood"). The difference between these modern-day death camps and the Nazi camps is in these, the parents willingly come to have their unborn slaughtered.

Okay, we have fewer people in the next generation. So what!

One of the lowest birth rates in this country is from white liberal women. Personaly I think we are better off with fewer white liberal women giving birth.

Meanwhile, in the Muslim world, the rate is something like 4.

Those who espouse low birth rates, there is your legacy.

Allahu Akbar.

The largest unreported genocide in human history continues to be legal. God, please forgive our country.

Oh, don't worry. There will be plenty of people around to take their place.

They just won't be speaking the same language or look the same.

Nations that kill their own children don't survive for long. Other nations that don't do that move in to replace them.

Look around and tell me that isn't true.

Don’t worry. We can fix that imbalance in about 15 minutes.

American population continues to increase

No, the population in the territorial boundaries of America continues to increase, but that population is by no means American.

Ehrlich should have been laughed out of serious discussion years ago but wasn't because the left/greens have so much invested in his theories.

Industrialization, mechanization and technological advancement does mean we need fewer hands to keep turning the valves and pulling the levers.

We’ll get by just fine with fewer folk. Besides, we can kill them much faster than they can reproduce. We could eliminate them all at once if they get us angry enough.

Them I mean is the muslim.

A fair lot of this sky is fallerizing comes from the assumption that the muslim is willing to wait around until they have a voting majority or some other silliness.

We’ll win this fight. There’s zero real doubt about that. The only question is will we need to suffer a full decimation of our population before we get angry enough to treat the muslim as is required to end this fight.

PS. I don’t mean any of that to imply I’m pro baby sacrificing cult.

Look on the bright side... at least when the caliphate takes over, we won’t have to worry about pork spending anymore.

Yes, the population of America is increasing.

For all of the wrong reasons- that is they're not American (born of American parents). I do not consider birthright citizenship to be constitutional.

I liked America well enough when the population was 150 million. But, things change and there’s not much we can do but wake up and see the truth, which is redundant.

The world's population is increasing by 57 million people a year and will continue to do until at least 2050. The US population will increase by 167 million by 2060 with 105 million attributed to immigration, legal and illegal. By then, we will have almost half a billion people. Since 1970 our population has increased by 100 million. We have the highest annual population growth rate of any developed country, i.e., .89%.

Our pro-growth immigration policy will place tremendous strains on this country in many ways.
