Radio station news announcer designated the SKS he used as an “assault rifle”. Clearly trying to scare those that don’t know better.
Here in the Minneapolis area, I heard on the radio that it was an "AK-47 assault rifle".

Same info here where I live. They even had a nice assaulting photo of the AK as a visual.

CBS said it was an SKS. But the graphic of the rifle they used looked like a 30-30 lever action. To an uneducated non - gun owner anything with a long barrell could be an assult rifle.
An SKS is a poor choice for an assult rifle. They won’t even knock down a deer at close range.
