Plot to assassinate President Musharraf foiled

KARACHI: Intelligence agencies foiling plot to assassinate President Pervez Musharraf and other terrorist activities have nabbed some members of the faction of Al-Qaeda movement and recovered large amount of ammunition and weapons from their custody.
According to sources, the intelligence agencies on a tip off raided in Malir area of the metropolitan city and arrested members of the Al-Qaeda faction group and recovered large amount of ammunition and weapons from their custody.
The sources further revealed that the criminals during their interrogation revealed that they were plotting to kill President Pervez Musharraf during his next trip to Karachi.
The criminals told the investigative agencies that they were planning to blow up the entire bridge on Drig Road at the precise moment when the convoy of President Musharraf was to reach there while coming from Karachi airport to Shahrah-e-Faisal. And in case if President Musharraf had survived than a 2nd and 3rd attack could have been made, they further added.
The sources told that the criminals further revealed that their group was also planning to target army installations and foreign embassies and also kidnap influential personalities to press for their demands of releasing their accomplices.
The criminals however also told that despite their arrest their plans would be carried out as their group has been expanded into smaller groups and they are equipped with full ammunition.......
