With such a rapid review (pre-written?) and clear mischaracterization in the descriptive "criticize", it appears the question was *designed* to hurt Mitt and Fred in the south. CNN will be sure to followup on the issue, they created.

How is this this is important in a presidential election?

The flag should be able to fly! Rap music is not illegal however, this type of music is more offensive than a flag and not one person is trying to ban rap music. Im sick and tired of the usa trying to legislate peoples feelings. So what if people dont like the flag. We dont live in communist russia we live in america. Its a flag get over it!

What I don't get is why they even bothered to answer the question.
IMHO, they should have simply said, "Frankly, I couldn't care less what that flag means to you or anyone else. With the war in Iraq, our war with radical islam, out of control illegal immigration, an entitlement-driven fiscal crisis looming, an Iran hell-bent on getting nukes, and dozens of other pressing problems, we don't have time for such trivialities. I suggest we move on to the next question, which will hopefully be something substantive."

Romney said we didn’t need that flag, but Thompson said it was a historic flag like many others.
Thompson could see it flying with a bunch of historic flags, but not by itself.
There is no reason to obsess about that flag IMO.

Put them on the record.

"That flag is devisive and it shouldn't be shown."

The attack on our southern heritage continues, and even within our own ranks. Has SCV responded to any of this?
Seems more and more like I will stay home in Nov. 2008.

I have absolutely no idea why we’re worrying about a flag that hasn’t had relevance for over 150 years. Note to all: give it a rest!!! Nobody cares.
