“Does anyone have any better advise?”

“BlueNgold” has the most experience in these issues and best advice.
“MarineMom613” should take his advice.

I am available if for any reason his suggestions don't get satisfactory results but "BlueNgold" would be the person to contact if more help is needed.

Kelly

If he is going afloat or is already at sea he is part of an amphibious group. They have helicopters that can fly him back to Lejune within a certain range (620 nautical miles). When I was on the Caribbean cruise some guys in my company were on the division football team and they were flown back to Lejune begin football training.

“Call your sons commander. He will have the last say in what goes on.”

This is the quickest route if available. He can order the release and do the paperwork later.

We have given up on getting him home before she’s gone. The funeral is all we want now. #43 Re Loco Parentis.Red Cross told me last nite when I called they shouldn’t even be using that becuase of all the wierd family situations out there. Unfortunately, alot of families abused the situation because of Iraq.
They told me there is nothing more they can do but pass on the recommendation that he is needed at home. They confirmed it with the Hospice people.
As to my mom’s condition, she is deterioraty (sp)rapidly. I understand Pancreatic Cancer can do that. Just two weeks ago yesterday she was working everday!!!!. She is a fighter but cancer is a vicious killer.
I have a business to run and come in early morning hours to make sure work is ready to go and return home to my mom. If I don’t I will have to have my company closed down. I’ve already laid off 3 people because work is slow and with this I am having a hard time. My sis is hear from FLA with her.
I will try the chaplains office now and also those tel#’s above. I will keep in touch. Also, thanks to everyone kind enough to PM me also. You can’t know how much this all means to me. There are no better people than my FRiends here. (Even though I mostly lurk). When I told my family what I was doing they told me I was crazy. I told them they dont know you guys and if anything you can give me comfort they can’t. Thanks again.
Liz
PS Sorry for spelling errors. Heads not working 100%. Normally I’m anal about spelling.

My heart goes out to you and your son, and I pray that God will comfort you both and give you His peace.

I was with my uncle this past Spring when he passed away from pancreatic cancer. I, too, was amazed at the rapid decline, expecially in the last week.

Even though he was unable to communicate much the last number of days, he still found joy in having the phone helpd up to his ear so he could hear family talking to him on the phone. It must have been frustrating on their end, but those of us with him could *see* the joy it brought him. Have you considered letting your son talk to her on the phone? Or do you think that would confuse her further?

I just pray that whatever the outcome is of your son coming home or not, that you will both have a peace about it. You can take comfort in the fact that you did everything in your power to get him home.

I’m sorry it seems like things won’t work out. My heart goes out to you and your family. This only deepens my respect and thankfulness for heroes like your son and your family, and the sacrifices you endure for us. Your mother is proud of her Marine, she should be very proud of him for this personal sacrifice..I’m sure in her heart she will understand why he couldn’t be there at the end. You and your family need to be at peace. I pray God provides this for you during this rough time..God Bless!!

Spelling police etc., should never be a concern on Free Republic..especially under these circumstances. It was nice that you thought about it. Please don’t worry about us, you have communicated just fine, and are easy to understand.

If you are able, please keep us posted.
