Catholics might believe that the Real Presence superceded the ark, not sure how that is viewed. Some even think it is in the Vatican, I've no opinion on that one way or the other.
see my post in #55.
Some people think that Christianity superseded Judaism. But it would be more orthodox to say that Christianity fullfilled Judaism.
It repeatedly says, throughout the Old Testament, that God’s covenant with Israel is “forever.” St. Paul confirms that phrasing in one of his epistles.
Christians believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah spoken of by the Hebrew prophets. Many Jews have converted over the centuries, including those mentioned in the Book of Acts, but many have not, and presumably they still enjoy the covenental relationship with God that He promised never to abandon.
God told Moses that no one can look upon Him and live, but the Shekinah is the “majestic presence” of God, His manifestation of Himself. The Jewish Encyclopedia has an article on the word:

Exodus suggests that when the Ark was in the tabernacle in the desert, God manifested Himself at times, and then no one could enter the tabernacle, but at other times seemed to absent Himself from it, when the Ark could be carefully carried on poles, but not directly touched.
