While I was a teenager and still enthralled with my own generation, the Boomers, I truly believed that we were heralding a new and better human nature. We were going to stamp out prejudice, discrimination, and every other foul practice in the hemisphere. No more bashing folks of color. No more negative stereotyping for females. No more blonde jokes, fat jokes, handicap jokes, divorce jokes, gay jokes or Polish jokes. Human nature be damned. We could all be nice to each other if we tried hard enough, if we just had enough determination.
Here we are forty years later, and it seems to me that all we've really accomplished is an exchange of all of our old prejudices for a new one. The demographic group that now gets it full on the chin at every turn, in every public sphere, is the lone, white male. Christians, especially the Catholic Church, are also an approved target, but that topic is for another article.
So we haven't gotten any better as human beings. We simply changed targets.

People who need to bash people are the luckiest people in the world, with the advent of the internet. And some people, including white men, just need bashing.
If you are in a bad mood and just feel the need to rant against the bashers, why not target the men and women who need it? You might educate someone in the process.
There’s the twits over on Scienceblogs who are all atheist, antilife, anti-establishment liberals. It’s fun to bash them, they don’t argue, they just rant and they don’t moderate their posts, so it’s pretty easy. Then there’s the supposedly (big L) Libertarian, anti-”neocon,” Ron-Paul-lovin’ men and women who spend days discussing how universal - but specifically women’s - sufferage is the end of the Republic. The leader (Vox Day, “Featuring Vox Day, the Christian Libertarian and Forensic Ideologist”)has a few good ideas, is great at atheist-bashing, but doesn’t even live in the States, hates marriage and doesn’t seem to have any respect for women - maybe none for anyone - while claiming to be a “Christian Libertarian.” If you bash him, you might educate a couple of hundred fellow L’s and maybe 10 or so atheists, too! http://voxday.blogspot.com/
Last, but not least, are the few men who post anti-family, anti-life, and so liberal it hurts rants on Women’s Bioethics Project Blog http://womensbioethics.blogspot.com/ , and the Blog of the American Journal of Bioethics, blogbioethics.net. http://blog.bioethics.net/ These are the “ethicists” who love cloning and who rallied around to cheer Terri Schiavo to death. They’re not nearly so reliable as the scienceblogs for replies and arguments. And they moderate, so I have to wait to see whether anyone will even read my bashing.
On a really bad day, you can go “Feministing.” http://feministing.com/ But prepare to be sickened at the men-bashing there.
But, no, I haven’t bashed a white male today, yet.
I agree that us “evil” white guys get bashed all the time in commercials, TV, and movies. However, I believe this is done by the media, because these liberal Manginas are afraid of us. I hope this always stays true, because I like nothing better than to instill fear into some gutless liberal.
If you listen to the Media you would think America was in utter chaos.
The only major chaos is in the minds and dreams of the marists that have plans for us all.
The Southwest Airlines commercial(s) which make fun of the black female must not be seen often, but then again folks see what they want to see...
Another thing: The little fat girl that asks her Dad to drop her off a block from somewhere because other folks ride bikes and drive Hybrids....Her happy-ass should be walking....
On the bright side, the lunkheads, incompetents, bums, and nasty people of the World can blame white males for their condition.
Oh absolutely. There are so many male bashing ads, it gets sickening. I recall one where the wife was doing a whole bunch of things getting ready for a trip and all the idiot husband had to do was put the stroller in the mini-van. And he couldn’t even figure that one out (I think it was a toyota mini-van), so the wife had to save him. She drove of course.
I just found this KMart-fight-the-Christmas lights one funny because I had been struggling with the pre-wired Christmas tree the night before (the one we got on discount w/o instructions).
White males are to cultural Marxism what kulaks were to the Stalinist variety. Just ask the Duke lacrosse team.

One thing I noticed when I lived down in Florida is that it was OK to bash Cuban Americans on radio/media, etc., but that if one did the same to blacks or Jews, they would be in alot of trouble. NOT saying that you should be bashing anyone, just pointing out the double standard.
Just go to college and they pooh-pooh anything ever accomplished ‘dead white men’. Some of the most intellectually lazy stuff you will ever hear.
Don't get me started on why we classify European descended folks from Cuba or Argentina as "minorities/nonwhite" yet we classify middle easterners as white...

At first it looks like yet another bumbling father getting wisdom from his little girl, but in the end you see he's really smart after all. It was a pleasant surprise the first time I saw it.

I am applying to grad school at the moment and emailing profs to see if one will be an advisor. For history, I want to study the Army of Northern Virginia. Well, the responses I get back... LOL!
Finally, in frustration I told a friend that my doctorate should be: Robert E. Lee beats slaves, or Stonewall Jackson: Fanatical Christian hates women. I bet I would be snapped right up.
It's a shame that history's heroes, truly honorable men, have been so maligned. We are the poorer for it.

BUT, the beer can falling from the sky to crush the girly man is GREAT. Just last night as we got ready for the gym my husband and I both put on our matching gym shirts. He looked at me and went to change. As he walked away he said “I love you but I’m not having a big beer can fall on my head” (it’s why I married him : ))
