NEW BUCHANAN BOOK DECLARES 'END OF AMERICA'
Sun Nov 25 2007 20:40:15 ET
**Exclusive**
America is coming apart, decomposing, and...the likelihood of her survival as one nation...is improbable -- and impossible if America continues on her current course," declares Pat Buchanan. "For we are on a path to national suicide.
The best-selling author and former presidential candidate is on the eve of launching his new epic book: DAY OR RECKONING: HOW HUBRIS, IDEOLOGY AND GREE ARE TEARING AMERICA APART.
This time, Buchanan goes all the way:
"America is in an existential crisis from which the nation may not survive."
The U.S. Army is breaking and is too small to meet Americas global commitments.
The dollar has sunk to historic lows and is being abandoned by foreign governments.
U.S. manufacturing is being hollowed out.
The greatest invasion in history, from the Third World, is swamping the ethno-cultural core of the country, leading to Balkanization and the loss of the Southwest to Mexico.
The culture is collapsing and the nation is being deconstructed along the lines of race and class.
A fiscal crisis looms as the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare remain unaddressed.
All these crises are hitting America at once -- a perfect storm of crises.
Specifically, Buchanan contends:
Pax Americana, the era of U.S. global dominance, is over. A struggle for global hegemony has begun among the United States, China, a resurgent Russia and radical Islam
Bushs invasion of Iraq was a product of hubris and of ideology, a secular religion of democratism, to which Bush was converted in the days following 9/11
Torn asunder by a culture war, America has now begun to break down along class, ethnic and racial lines.
The greatest threat to U.S. sovereignty and independence is the scheme of a global elite to erase Americas borders and merge the USA, Mexico and Canada into a North American Union.
Free trade is shipping jobs, factories and technology to China and plunging America into permanent dependency and unpayable debt. One of every six U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished under Bush
Sovereign Wealth Funds, controlled by foreign regimes and stuffed with trillions of dollars from U.S. trade deficits, are buying up strategic corporate assets vital to Americas security
As U.S. wages are stagnant, corporate CEOs are raking in rising pay and benefits 400 to 500 times that of their workers
The Third World invasion through Mexico is a graver threat to our survival as one nation than anything happening in Afghanistan or Iraq
* European-Americans, 89% of the nation when JFK took the oath, are now 66% and sinking. Before 2050, America is a Third World nation
By 2060, America will add 167 million people and 105 million immigrants will be here, triple the 37 million today.
Hispanics will be over 100 million in 2050 and concentrated in a Southwest most Mexicans believe belongs to them
Buchanans Recommendations:
A new foreign-defense policy that closes most of the 1000 bases overseas, reviews all alliances, and brings home U.S. troops
A purge of neoconservative ideology and the Cakewalk crowd from national power.
To avert a second Cold War, the United States should get out of Russias space and get out of Russias face, and shut down all U.S. bases on the soil of the former Soviet Union
To reach a cold peace in the culture war, Buchanan urges a return to federalism and the overthrow of our judicial dictatorship by Congressionally mandated restrictions on the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
To end the trade deficits and save the dollar, Buchanan urges a Hamiltonian solution: a 20% Border Equity Tax on imports, with the $500 billion raised to be used to end taxation on American producers
To prevent America becoming a tangle of squabbling nationalities Buchanan urges: No amnesty for the 12-20 million illegal aliens; a border fence from San Diego to Brownsville; Congressional declarations that children born to illegal aliens are not citizens and English is the language of the United States; and a timeout on all immigration.
Developing...
Thank you Porterville...you are my kind of person. I am so sick of these doom and gloom scenarios.
BS. We don't need to import high school dropouts to keep our economy going. Read this, you may learn something about the demographic impact of immigration, legal and illegal.
Hey, I’m entitled to be grumpy at times. My problem is that I remember the times when America had some control over our borders and English was spoken by the majority. Oh, they were definitely not Canadians. They shop at the up-scale malls and this one was for the lower wage scales, like mine (another reason to be grumpy).
Yep, that's why they are cheap labor....
I'm not saying it's not a problem, I'm not saying it's a good thing.
I'm saying that the boomers didn't have enough kids and we have to import cheap labor. Social pathologies come with that cheap labor.
The articles lament that fact and suggest no alternative source of cheap labor.
The the boomers didn't have enough kids and instead of little Sally and John busing tables and washing patients, it's Maria and Juan.
The immigrant invasion is the fruit of the 'Baby Bust'.
Oh, Travis is either on a roll or off his meds this week.
First of all, the labor is cheap only for the employer. The taxpayer must subsidize all of the other costs and the long term impact will be a Balkanization of the country along linguistic and cultural lines, i.e, the end of this country as we know it.
The US has the highest annual population growth rate of any developed country in the world [.89%] and our birth rate is 2.09 or at replacement levels. Even if we stopped all immigration tomorrow, we would still increase our population by 62 million.
You obviously didn't read or didn't comprehend the article I linked to you about the demograhic impact of immigration and how it affects the labor pool. Check out the sections on the impact on an aging society, especially just changing the retirement age from 65 to 68 and what effect that has on the availability of workers. Also, at the current level of net immigration (1.25 million a year), 61 percent of the nations population will be of working age (15-66) in 2060, compared to 60 percent if net immigration were reduced to 300,000 a year.
There are 54 million Americans of working age [15-66] who aren't working. They are in school, stay at home moms, disabled, etc. but many of the jobs filled by illegal aliens are because of the economics involved, not the availability of labor. The employer does not have to pay high salaries, benefits, SS, etc. to what amounts to slave labor. They realize the bottom line benefit, but people are not widgets that can be disposed of. The societal costs are enormous. You can drink the Chamber of Commerce Kool-aid about worker shortages, but the only real shortage is exploitable, disposable slave labor.
In October, unemployment rates for the major worker groups--adult men (4.3 percent), adult women (4.1 percent), teenagers (15.6 percent), whites (4.2 percent), blacks (8.5 percent), and Hispanics (5.6 percent)--showed little or no change. The unemployment rate for Asians was 3.7 percent, not seasonally adjusted.
It's not like those 65-68 are going to be picking oranges and grapes for the wages an illegal will work for....
Futhermore, look at the actual birthrate data: It ain't white women keeping us at replacement levels, and it's not the more educated reproducing. Successful educated white folks are afraid of having kids.
“...... the long term impact will be a Balkanization of the country along linguistic and cultural lines....”
.....I hope you’re right....that’s a nicer outlook than my own which is a Balkan style civil war.....multicultural/multiracial empires have a way of coming apart with great violence...wars of secesion and partition are a global reality....turn on the news any day of the week and you will hear...”sharp fighting was reported today between government troops and rebels in the break-away state of (fill in the blank)”....how long before that statement applies to us?
See: Thomas Chittum’s “Civil War Two”
The civil conflict that Pat is predicting would have to have a precipitating event - a dramatic economic turn down equivalent of the Great Depression, for example. This country has enormous resilience. We've weathered a Civil War, many deep recessions, 9/11, etc. Also, Pat's view is that the future is simply an extrapolation of the present which it generally isn't. While it is true that we have cultural and political chasms, that which unites us is much greater than that which divides. I don't think one can predict the future very accurately, but I would bet on America long before China or any other country. We will overcome all the challenges and still remain the greatest country of all time.
If it were not for the low-ball swipe, your comment would have had no content at all. But thanks for joining in.
He is not one of my favorite people, but I am afraid he may be right.
“In my book, if the Southern Policy Law Center lists you as an enemy, I am at least provisionally ready to accept you as a friend.”
Including the KKK? LOL
Travis, I may disagree with you, and you do annoy me, but it doesn't give me leave to be impolite to you. My appologies for not including you in my comment.
FR is not a lockstep place. I am hardly surprised to see that someone like yourself would pop up to support the race pimp Morris Dees and his Southern Policy Law Center for the perpetual bludgeoning of conservatives as “racist.” Nice to see you.
The one thing that is common about these groups is that they all make money off of immigration, much of it paid by the US Taxpayers.
So while we have to take our spare time and our own money to fight them, it’s their jobs to do what they do and they do it using our money.
Here’s what they say:
Agenda items include
“Immigration Eligibility of Public Benefits 101”
“Taking the offensive in support of immigrant rights”
“Barriers to public benefits 101”
“Preserving access to Emergency Medicaid”
“Lessons Learned from Raids”
“From ‘Family Unity’ to ‘Chain Migration’ “
“Advocatiing for Language Access”
Breakfast Plenary
“Joining Forces: Building on the power of African-Americans
and Immigrant Communities”
“Countering the Rise of Nativist Influence”
“What’s LAW got to do with it? How Organizers
and Lawyers collaborate to advance social justice.”
“Securing SSI for Humanitarian Immigrants and Other Noncitizens”
“Litigation and Policy Strategies Challenging State and Local Anti-Immigrant Measures”
“Organizing and Advocacy Efforts for Guest Workers”
“Keeping the DREAM (Act) Alive: Next Steps”
It’s a tough fight and as usual, they plan on winning in the courts; not by winning over the American people. We are the enemy to these guys. And we must battle them on every front.
Can’t argue with any of his complaints/criticisms, and I like a lot of his suggestions for reform. But his predictions for the future can be taken with a grain of salt.
Like what? Last I heard, America was busy moving the manufacture of all things American off-shore. Yea yea, jumbo jets and heavy equipment. I dont know how that's going to support the economy but I'm sure you can tell me.
You are conflating things ~conceived~ in American with things ~manufactured~ in America. It is an important distinction to observe.
What are you talking about??? I never said I supported the Southern Policy Law Center. My message was that it would be dogmatically foolish to consider making friends with ANYONE that the Law Center is opposed to—for example, the KKK. I am saying that despite my dislike for the Law Center’s views, I don’t automatically consider friendship with someone simply on the basis of their opposition to the Law Center.
