NEW BUCHANAN BOOK DECLARES 'END OF AMERICA'

Sun Nov 25 2007 20:40:15 ET

**Exclusive**

“America is coming apart, decomposing, and...the likelihood of her survival as one nation...is improbable -- and impossible if America continues on her current course," declares Pat Buchanan. "For we are on a path to national suicide.”

The best-selling author and former presidential candidate is on the eve of launching his new epic book: DAY OR RECKONING: HOW HUBRIS, IDEOLOGY AND GREE ARE TEARING AMERICA APART.

This time, Buchanan goes all the way:

"America is in an existential crisis from which the nation may not survive."

The U.S. Army is breaking and is too small to meet America’s global commitments.

The dollar has sunk to historic lows and is being abandoned by foreign governments.

U.S. manufacturing is being hollowed out.

The greatest invasion in history, from the Third World, is swamping the ethno-cultural core of the country, leading to Balkanization and the loss of the Southwest to Mexico.

The culture is collapsing and the nation is being deconstructed along the lines of race and class.

A fiscal crisis looms as the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare remain unaddressed.

All these crises are hitting America at once -- a perfect storm of crises.

Specifically, Buchanan contends:

• Pax Americana, the era of U.S. global dominance, is over. A struggle for global hegemony has begun among the United States, China, a resurgent Russia and radical Islam

• Bush’s invasion of Iraq was a product of hubris and of ideology, a secular religion of “democratism,” to which Bush was converted in the days following 9/11

• Torn asunder by a culture war, America has now begun to break down along class, ethnic and racial lines.

• The greatest threat to U.S. sovereignty and independence is the scheme of a global elite to erase America’s borders and merge the USA, Mexico and Canada into a North American Union.

• Free trade is shipping jobs, factories and technology to China and plunging America into permanent dependency and unpayable debt. One of every six U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished under Bush

• “Sovereign Wealth Funds,” controlled by foreign regimes and stuffed with trillions of dollars from U.S. trade deficits, are buying up strategic corporate assets vital to America’s security

• As U.S. wages are stagnant, corporate CEOs are raking in rising pay and benefits 400 to 500 times that of their workers

• The Third World invasion through Mexico is a graver threat to our survival as one nation than anything happening in Afghanistan or Iraq

* European-Americans, 89% of the nation when JFK took the oath, are now 66% and sinking. Before 2050, America is a Third World nation

• By 2060, America will add 167 million people and 105 million immigrants will be here, triple the 37 million today.

• Hispanics will be over 100 million in 2050 and concentrated in a Southwest most Mexicans believe belongs to them

Buchanan’s Recommendations:

• A new foreign-defense policy that closes most of the 1000 bases overseas, reviews all alliances, and brings home U.S. troops

• A purge of neoconservative ideology and the “Cakewalk” crowd” from national power.

• To avert a second Cold War, the United States should “get out of Russia’s space and get out of Russia’s face,” and shut down all U.S. bases on the soil of the former Soviet Union

• To reach a cold peace in the culture war, Buchanan urges a return to federalism and the overthrow of our judicial dictatorship by Congressionally mandated restrictions on the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

• To end the trade deficits and save the dollar, Buchanan urges a Hamiltonian solution: a 20% Border Equity Tax on imports, with the $500 billion raised to be used to end taxation on American producers

• To prevent America becoming “a tangle of squabbling nationalities” Buchanan urges: No amnesty for the 12-20 million illegal aliens; a border fence from San Diego to Brownsville; Congressional declarations that children born to illegal aliens are not citizens and English is the language of the United States; and a “timeout” on all immigration.

Yes, but the last thing Buchannan is, is a socialist.
But he is a nationalist.

One can’t say the same about the Neocons and socialism.
One can, however, question their nationalism.

“If America ends, will Mr. Buchanan go somewhere else?”

If America ends no one will have to go anywhere to be somewhere else.

China is our 3d largest export nation and we export everything to them from food to farm equipment to computers to movies.

Get real. What China buys from us is chump change.

From reading the comments here, about a third of the posters are part of the ‘sheeple’ too.

Anyone who looks, even casually, at our situation knows we are headed for trouble. Are the drop in the dollar, the sky-high hispanic drop out and crime rates, the open declarations of reconquista by hispanic organizations and leaders, the trade deficits, the rise of Chinese power funded by our dollars and the numbers of Third Worlders in our midst all just part of Pat Buchanan’s imagination?

It’s all there for anyone on to see - anyone who doesn’t sit in front of the computer all day or wasting time on fantasy football or watching American Idol. Unfortunately, that is what most Americans are doing. Then they just move away to new area when where they live gets “uncomfortable” - i.e. overrun by foreigners with which they have little in common.

The situation is obvious here in Springfield, VA. And we aren’t even one of the most pronounced areas afflicted by unmitigated immigration.

Some of you will try as the dems do, to play “holier than thou,” on the immigration problem. You can smugly feel good and tell yourselves, “I’m not a racist. I’m better than those guys who think immigration is a problem.”

Be careful who you ally yourselves with. The same people that are for Hillary, Obama, more government spending, more foreign aid, more government programs, more taxation, affirmative action, pushing homosexuals openly into every aspect of American life, abortion on demand, partial birth abortion (where the baby is murdered as it is delivered), the expunging of Christmas and Christianity from American life, in short, to most us, they are wrong on all these issues, but somehow on this one issue - immigration - they are correct.

The libs think we should allow even more of it and amnesty for those that are here. These libs are wrong about everything else of moral consequence, do you really want to ally yourself with them and take a chance that they finally right on this issue of immigration - an issue that will most determine the future of this country?

My bet is that they are consistent - consistently wrong. So odds are, if the libs see no problem with mass immigration, it is probably bad for America.

Pat seems to overlook one critical reality.

At least half this country are patriots who love this country, even if some are too lazy to get involved with saving her at this point.

We’re not going to just roll over and allow a third-world invasion, an Islamofascist invasion, a fifth-column invasion from America’s own leftists, or any other type of overthrow to destroy us.

We are well armed. We know how to use those arms. If it comes to the point of open warfare, so be it. It will be a good time to clean house.

We will not lose our country.

A lot of people would rather live in denial. They’ll see the light someday, maybe.

Even when they are proved wrong their arrognace won't allow them to admit it though.

No. I am saying that China is not our biggest trading partner and that China sends more of its exports to us than anyone else. In terms of US exports to China, we have really not penetrated their market and costs are only a part of the reason.

Boston probably has as many bagpipe bands as LA has mariachi bands....This is a racial thing.

Have you read the Huntington article I linked to you? If so, what do you disagree with in terms of his analysis?

The fate of England is the ghost of nation’s past. God Bless us, every one.

Umm.. Lesseee. How's the British Pound note doing vs the dollar?

Are we going to have to cede Hawaii back like Hong Kong...er...uh...nevermind.

Yes, the dollar could be in peril. If Hillary wins, we'll end up nothing like our former country.

However, one thing America HAS NOT DONE is fling its empire under selfish terms. We did not enslave Guangdong with opium. We did not beat down the Indians. We did not cause the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

There's really very little when it comes to similarities between the USA soft-empire and Britain's old-fashioned one.

Very sad to see Buchanan bashed on this thread. Of all places, he should get a fair hearing here.

Of course the book is going to say the sky is falling. That is the point of a jeremiad.

Pat was yelling about immigration before anyone else. Only lately has the American public recognized that something needed to be done -- that it was a matter of short- and long-term security for the nation. But their slowness in recognizing the importance of the immigration issue did not keep them from immediately smearing him as racist, xenophobic, anti-Hispanic, etc... until of course it became the zeitgeist for us to start getting hinky about the reality of out-of-control immigration. Now everybody on this forum, as well as a majority of the general public, admits to thinking like Pat on immigration.

Hypocrites.

Buchanan said it first... people on the left (and many even here) poison debate by calling him a racist or anti-semite. It is a really effective technique, though morally reprehensible. But it works: They bashed McCarthy, Swiftboat Veterans, Buchanan. The uncritical all join in the bashing, until their noise is all you hear, and the truth is drowned out for a generation.

All you have to do is read Pat's autobiography, Right From the Beginning, to discover whether or not he is racist or antisemitic. Read it, I challenge you, bashers of Buchanan, and discover for yourselves that he is not.

It’s the Americans at the entry or lower level of income who are feeling the impact of illegal immigration.

“If Buchanan ever mentions Reagan’s name again, he ought to be punched in the mouth. How dare this charlatan invoke his name.”

Reagan liked him and hired him into his administration.

“Unlikely prediction is unlikely.” (the end is near)

With a name like Constantine, you ought to know a bit about the history of empires. They all eventually fall, and that includes ours too. The question is, when? I always wondered what were the root causes of the fall of the Roman Empire. There are many given, however, I think one can generalize and say that empires rot mostly from within. Buchanan knows this, and thus his books which have an alarmist ring. Because of this inevitability, and the fact that warning signs come regularly along the path to decline, Pat has hopped on his pitchfork, locked and loaded, and is sounding the alarm. It’s Pat Revere warning the masses and hoping some of the sheeple will figure it out also. Pat’s one Achille’s heel is his seeming anti-semitism, which is most unattractive.

Buchanan is often as wrong as he is right, he both on this one.

Our Constitution died back during the New Deal. Some would put it even further back during Reconstruction. We've just been trying to revive a corpse ever since. Each year, more stop trying to provide CPR...

Nothing lasts forever. Even good things like our Former Republic. Time to hit the reset button before things get really bad...

I am aware of that because Buchanan has lived in DC his whole life. However, Pat has no right to say he is carrying the Gipper’s mantle becuase he holds such opposing views.

It’s the Americans at the entry or lower level of income who are feeling the impact of illegal immigration.

I couldn’t agree more.

I find that, unfortunately, most people I talk to in the upper middle class just look at their own existence and say, “This is okay. I don’t see what the problem is.”

The problem is that not every American can afford to live in areas that are isolated from the negative effects of mass Third World immigration.

To illustrate, I talked to a 50 yr. woman working at the local mall, a single now (possibly widowed) and mother of 6 kids. Out of the blue she conveyed to me that she hadn’t slept the night before. She left all the lights and TV on out of fear. Why? It’s the illegal hispanic gangs roaming her neighborhood.

An elderly lady had been murdered in her what was once a nice neighborhood. Also, A couple of doors down a 70 year old answered knock at her door. An hispanic guy with a ponytail asked her, “Do you live alone. Can I use your bathroom.”

This fear is the reality in lower income America today. They can’t afford to move away. No matter what Bush and the other open borders people would like to believe. Real Americans are suffering because of their policies and lack of action.

I signed up to serve in the Air Force at age 17 - to fight communism. I find now that while many of us focused on the threat that was outside the country, we were betrayed by our leaders back home.

I didn’t put my life on the line (Gulf War I) to have middle-aged American women in my hometown sleepless because of the danger they face from invaders that have been allowed into this country.

To find out how I really feel, read my post #244

We need to clean out Congress and elect a man who thinks as we do to lead the country.
