“the universe splits into two,”
so then for every event “the universe splits into two”. If so, there would be a rather large number of “universes”, and more happening all the time. Each time I open a box with a Christmas present, the universe splits into two. Same for everyone else. Gonna be a lot of universes after Dec 25.

Obviously nonsense. There is ONE universe.

“Does this mean if we all stare at Hilary long enough she’ll go away?”

It hasn’t been tried successfully. No survivors.

As in the other thread, the alternative thread, the universe is not brought to an end by observing but forks. Two or more universes will result and we won’t be destroyed, just forked.

And some say that these scientific theories aren’t a religious belief, a faith in something that they cannot prove (e.g. the cat is alive until you try to prove that it isn’t dead).

You're not correctly interpreting the thought exercise that is known as "Schrödinger's Cat" - he was attempting to demonstrate the absurd problems associated with marrying the Copenhagen model to macro-mechanics.

Much of the idea however - that you're calling a religious belief - is absolutely factual, symmetrical and reproducible via a Quantum Double-Slit Experiment.

Attempting to apply wave-particle duality as this team is, however, seems futile and goofy.

The startling claim is made by a pair of American cosmologists investigating the consequences for the cosmos of quantum theory, the most successful theory we have.

Just take THAT, you EVOLUTIONISTS!

...in the very beginning, there was a void that possessed energy but was devoid of substance. Then the void changed, converting energy into the hot matter of the big bang.

Genesis 1
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
4. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
5. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day.

There are 10192 bifurcations in the universe every second. What is past no longer exists and what hasn't happened yet doesn't either, so there are just 2 X 10192 universes.

How many electrons were harmed in the publication of this drivel?

Not too many; but a bunch WERE deflected from were they were going in the first place!

Global Warming to blame?

I'm sure, that if we look at the data a bit more closely, we will find that the background temperature of the Universe has INCREASED since we first detected it!

(Probably all the high temperature exhausts from interplanetary rockets that are to blame. [What kind of a greenhouse gas will cause vacuum to heat up?] )
