He doesn’t learn, does he...
He pulled this crap with the all-night debate, and here it is again, except even longer this time. Keep shooting yourself in the foot, Dingy.

Remember almost nothing gets done in the Senate without unamimous consent and the Majority Leader basically controls what is allowed to come to the floor.

I still wonder ... will they actually get any work done? Nah! Thats too much to ask for. In large part, the less they do, the better for us -- the taxpayers.

I think you have to be present to vote.
But, he’ll not do it over Christmas. It’s only another month.

Reid didn’t learn from the crash and burn of the last Democrat Senate leader. Obstructionism has reached new levels.

Good, let them sit in the chamber on their plump a$$e$ until Nov. 2008. Happy holidays! (Can’t say “Merry Christmas” to them, they might get offended.)

Only the president can make appointments.
What part of “it’s unconstitutional, you moron” doesn’t he understand?

Can't any Senator make a motion to adjourn at any time that he (or she) wants to and is sure that he has enough other Senators who will say "Aye" to the motion?
If there was a Senator with balls enough to do this, as soon as the Senate adjourned the President could make his recess appointments before Dingy Harry could get his hangers-on back to the hill.

keep the chamber in session over the Thanksgiving That's okay. Their families will enjoy the holiday more without them.

“Rather than taking a full break, Reid employed a rarely used parliamentary tactic of scheduling “pro forma’ sessions twice a week until early December, when Congress returns for a busy three weeks of work. Under that plan, a few senators, perhaps just one Democrat and one Republican, will briefly open the chamber for debate on any topic during the next two weeks
This move blocks Bush’s ability to make so-called recess appointments, which would allow the appointees to serve out the remainder of Bush’s term.”

“During the break, the Senate will hold pro forma sessions on Nov. 20, Nov. 23, Nov. 27 and Nov. 29. During the sessions, no votes and no legislative business will be conducted, but it hamstrings Bush from using his constitutional authority to install recess appointments during extended congressional recesses.
The move demonstrates the distrust between Senate Democratic leaders and the White House, with a number of high-level appointments for cabinet positions and judicial seats outstanding.”

9:00 a.m.: Convene for a pro forma session only. They will just open and close(adjourn) each day and eliminiate saying they are in recess.
have a Republican make a motion that a quorum is absent every time and force a quorum call and send the troops out to compel attendance and drag their asses back.
