“The basic premise is as the earth’s temperature rises, the atmosphere thickens, gaining mass which will exert a measurable pressure upon the planetary axis of rotation”, says Dr. Heimel Van Ulderwert of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich.

This guy must have one of those fake degrees. Either that, or he went to Antioch.

The effect is real and is called conservation of angular momentum. As the atmosphere warms, it expands slightly causing its moment of inertia to increase.

Now, the "quote", as written, is pure gibberish, but I suspect this is due more to the reporter being a mental midget in the area of science and physics than to the Doctor being wrong.

I think his last name translates as “ScrotalWart”...

He is nuts...mass can be neither created nor destroyed, only transformed. So the mass we hass is all the mass we gonna get.

By his theory, the mass we’ve shot off into space should allow our planet to rotate FASTER!!!
