BREAKING NEWS: DAE to order 200 Airbus and Boeing aircaft
By Max Kingsley-Jones
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise is announcing commitments for 200 Airbus and Boeing aircraft today at the Duba air show.
The deal is split 50/50 between the two airframers, with the initial announcement covering 70 Airbus A320 aircraft and 30 A350 XWBs. Deliveries begin in 2013.
The Boeing component of the deal will be announced later today, but is understood to include 737s 747-8Fs and 787s.
More details to follow ...
Guess they were afraid of offending?
Both sides were bribing equally?
Boeing is so booked out on its 787s they probably couldn’t offer deliveries to match Airbus’ promises. But you notice that they seem to be hedging their bets. When the A350 falters Airbus style, I’d expect the 787 orders to be upped.
That seems like an awful lot of airplanes for a small country. Are they trying to get all of their citizens in the air at once?
I believe you are referring to an Emirates Airlines deal worth about 35 billion USD for both Boeing & Airbus aircraft.DAE is a separate company-I don’t think it has any official relationship to Emirates.
DAE is into Aircraft leasing & funding.Once up & running, they will provide these to airlines which want them.
I think you are 100% correct. This is a different entity and it’s on top of the EA deal. Yikes, quite the lucrative weekend...
Considering that Dubai is the Vegas of the middle east, they can probably do it.
Talk about mega.
It is impossible to explain Dubai to someone who has never been there. The place is incredible. I've been there 6 times (courtesy of the US Navy) and each time I visit, the place is unrecognizable from the last time I was there due to the constant state of construction and development. It really is a dizzying experience. I love Dubai.
I don’t expect the A380 to sell well in the longer term. The plane will be around for some time, and they will sell SOME more of them, but the very high volume routes it would be competitive on are too limited to really give the plane legs. I look for buyers to be concentrated in the Asian markets.
I’m looking for a job flying 737NGs as a Captain. Does anyone have any leads on contacts in the Middle East or specialty employment agencies? I’m current and qualified. (and almost 60)
thanks.........
Well,Im not into scouting employment opportunities!!but I think the http://www.flightglobal.com/jobs/default.aspx does put employment opportunities for pilots. Most mainline carriers out there like Qatar Airways,Emirates,Etihad all seem to operate the A-320.If that shouldnt be a problem for you, they do offer excellent packages-you can see details on their websites.Kuwait airways seems to be the only big airline out there flying 737s.
If you want only 737s & not the Middle East-I’d suggest you look at various Indian airlines.India is seriously short of pilots,so lots of foreigners are coming over & pilot poaching is an art form with increasing pay packages & mostly internal flights. At last count ,atleast 5 airlines fly 737s there.
For one,the quality of indigenous manpower in Qatar is pretty lame when compared to that in Dubai. And secondly, they treat their non-white expat population like ***t-the ones in Dubai are far more lenient.
