Conclusion: These voters are anything but firmly committed. The polling numbers in the Republican race have been moving around somewhat, but if anything they understate the fluidity of this race.
The fact that he isn’t, and worse yet for them, WINNING, is the key news here.
Well what did the four of them say??? I don't think there could be more than six republicans in Richmond.
This ties in with a previous post this evening, gently suggesting Virginia is turning democrat-party.
Right, even Democrats don't really like her, so when the Republican candidate is named, as long as they keep that hate of Hillary, vote Republican and not for third parties...all will turn our well IMO.

First, these voters are anything but firmly anchored in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
***One wouldn’t glean that from the MSM polling results, almost as if they were trying to hide something.
They tend to see Rudy Giuliani as a “stronger leader,” but some are troubled with his stands on cultural issues (they identified him as supporting abortion and, incorrectly, same-sex marriage).
***Incorrectly? Baloney.
Conclusion: These voters are anything but firmly committed. The polling numbers in the Republican race have been moving around somewhat, but if anything they understate the fluidity of this race.
***And yet, such poll results are being used to exclude a conservative candidate from the Iowa debates: Duncan Hunter.
I ascribe some of it to disappointment with George W. Bush. All 12 of these people voted for him in both 2000 and 2004; they continue to regard him as a man who shares their moral values and Christian background ....
***Hunter again shines here.
Third, many of these voters raised the issue of illegal immigration and were genuinely outraged by the large number of illegals in the United States and by weak enforcement (or nonenforcement) of the law at the border and at workplaces. There was some clear condemnation of Bush here. At the same time, there was nothing to indicate that these attitudes were motivated by a dislike or prejudice against Latinos; to the contrary, one or two participants pointed out that illegal immigrants were hard workers.
***Again we come up with Hunter as the natural candidate for ALL of these voters.
Rudy will NOT become president.
The Richmond focus group participants seemed to have little awareness of this aspect of Romney's background.
The whole story led up to this piece of BS spin.
SOMEONE needs to whisper in Romneys ear he needs to come out AGANIST the assault weapon ban that he said he still supports and will support NO futher federal gun control I might listen to him. Otherwise he can forget it. He has changed his mind on everthing else it is time to change his support for something I believe he does not understand. Surly someone maybe HE himself could sit down for 1 hour with a firearm expert of the 2nd amendment type and get an EDUCATION.
The Democrats get to pick from a list of true liberals. Republicans get what? We get liberals, flip-floppers, sleepers, back-stabbers and half-conservatives.
That's interesting, because Sunday there were two articles suggesting that two other states were going blue (Pennsylvania and one other -- I can't remember which). Given the timing and similarity in these "your state is going blue" stories, I'm thinking little Howie Dean sent out press releases to that effect to all 50 states right before today's election, and the papers are just parroting those talking points. Sorry, a bit off-topic...but the Timing is Suspicious! :)
Rudy WILL be beat. Many of us would prefer to beat him in the primaries rather than the general, but one way or another, we will beat him. Rudy will NOT become president.
How exactly can Penn be considered “going blue” when its hasn’t voted for a GOP presidential candidate since 1988???
Even in GOP years like 2002 and 2004, the Dems did well in PA. It is hardly a “red” state. Indeed, the only unique thing about PA is that for a Dem state it is noticeably sympathetic to social conservatives.
Virginia and Arizona is a different story.
“His (Giuliani’s) detractors shouldve had him buried by now”
But the inverse is also true, he should have buried his competition. Instead, we seem to have a five man race, and most of the bottom four in the top tier would not see their votes go to Giuliani should they drop out.
Meaning, that you'd prefer Hillary to Rudy, if Rudy is the GOP nominee? That you'd work to defeat the GOP nominee and put a sleazy Leftist in the Oval Office?
See, that's the kind of thinking I just don't understand. In my opinion, any one of the GOP candidates, including even Ron Paul, who I think is badly misguided, would be far superior to Her Thighness and her minions in the White House.
I believe Rudy would do an excellent job as President. So would Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, John McCain, or Tom Tancredo. I'm not sure about Ron Paul, but I sure as heck would choose him over the Clintons.
I have to be a little skeptical of extrapolating the opinion of 12 people to represent millions.
But a lot of it sounds like what I would expect, and I agree these people would like Duncan Hunter.
I think he’s the candidate most Republicans and conservatives actually want, whether they realize it or not.
Another look at the same focus group: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1921543/posts
Meaning I am not going to vote for Rudy NO MATTER WHO HE RUNS AGAINST.
See, that's the kind of thinking I just don't understand.
I don't like what he stands for and I don't like who he is. I don't think he's qualified and I think he's dangerously weak. I think our enemies, including the Iranians, would play him like a fiddle because his responses would always be so predictable.
I believe Rudy would do an excellent job as President.
Exactly what is it that you find so compelling?
