Landslide? Yep, but not for Beshear/Mongiardo. This is an election simply to get Fletcher out of office regardless of who is running on the Dem ticket.

I’ve spoken with many local dims here and they don’t care much for Beshear at all.

Kentucky had a long-ingrained rodent regime in Frankfort. Occasionally, the GOP would break through. What accounted for a string of rodent Governors was that because of a 1-term limit, the Democrat Gov would then be succeeded by his or her Lieutenant. Ford was Louie Nunn’s Lieutenant (in those days, the Lieutenants were elected separately), Carroll was Ford’s. John Young Brown, Jr. defeated Carroll’s Lieutenant, Thelma Stovall. Collins was Brown’s Lieutenant. The Gov-elect this year, Beshear, was Collins’s Lieutenant, but Wallace Wilkinson beat him for the nomination back in 1987. Jones was Wilkinson’s Lieutenant and Patton was Jones’s. Beshear is essentially claiming the office he was denied 20 years ago.

The GOP broke through statewide with capturing the State Senate, and has been highly successful federally, but there’s just a different culture between the two. It’s very odd.

Amazing! Calling the election before the polls are closed. I thought that was supposed to stop after what happened in 2000. But it’s an NBC affiliate making the call, so I understand. Although the numbers don’t look good, it ain’t over til it’s over!

We all knew that this would happen.

Wasn’t seeing any numbers locally...now I am.

I was really nervous about Grayson but am very encouraged by these numbers.

Having Richie on the ballot probably helped him because it kept a lot of Democrats from merely pulling the straight lever and look at each race individually.

Yes, the only race really to watch was Secretary of State and Trey Grayson’s run for re-election - so far looking very good. It is to his great credit to be running this well in this kind of an environment. Hopefully these numbers will hold.

I wonder which of them we should put up against Beshear in 2011. No doubt with him and Mongiardo, and with a new rodent AG, lots of corruption will resume once again on their watch, just like with Patton.

He was taken down by the two state-wide papers, which rival anything on either coast in bias. This entire campaign came down to the hiring "scandal," which involved 15 jobs. A special grand jury was convened by the Democrat AG in a county populated by Democrat state workers. That he would be indicted was never in doubt. Reminds me of Libby.

No one had ever been criminally prosecuted under the "political discrimination" statute, so Fletcher moved to dismiss on the grounds of selective prosecution. Produced statistics showing a gross disparity between the percentage of Repbulican residents and Republican state workers. A couple of counties were like 80% Republican residents and 25% of state workers. Clearly this was a result of the Democrats doing for years what Fletcher was accused of, the difference being that it involved thousands of jobs when the Democrats did it vs. 15 for Fletcher (13 alleged improper R hirings or promotions, 2 D demotions or dismissals), and no Democrat was ever prosecuted. The motion was solid, but denied by the Democrat judge (now working for Beshear, if I'm not mistaken), and laughed at by Democrat legal experts invited to write about it in the two rag papers. Honest coverage would have portrayed the entire operation as the political hit it was.

And when he was indicted, one of the two rag papers, the Herald-Leader, posted a pdf of the indictment showing it had been faxed to them by the Democrat AG two weeks beforehand. The press was also calling the administration about subpoenas before they were even served.

In short, he never had a chance. One big reason is that we have no organized alternative media here to get the truth out.

With Farmer and Grayson winning, the incumbents aside from Fletcher, this is proof that voters were not coming out to vote against Republicans. They were more than open to voting for Republicans in good standing - Grayson and Farmer are winning by much larger margins than they did in 2003 with Fletcher winning at the top of the ticket.

That is true. I believe that KY has voted for the winner in the last presidential election in the last 50 years, and I think MO has voted for the winner all but once. They are perfect indicators.

Gov. Fletcher is now giving a very graceful concession speech right now.

Unfortunately I do not take solace in “moral victories” or “graceful concession speeches”.

Sorry to all in Kentucky...not a good night for the top of the ticket, though not unexpected. I hope you guys can break the jinx on Republican Governors there.

They called the election on 12% of the precincts... and for a rodent. Imagine dat.

KY has two time zones. The MSM didn't pull a Florida 2000 and call the state for algore when the polls were still open in the Panhandle, did they?

They did exactly that. It’s estimated thousands of voters didn’t bother in the panhandle (Republicans) when the MSM called it before the polls closed. The last time the media had done that was in 1980 when they called it for Reagan. A lot of rodents were mad as hell because it depressed turnout on the west coast. They wouldn’t do that again if it would harm a rodent.

Kentucky has elected an idiot. And the whole state just got dumber. The Rats held on to the Attorney Generals office so now its back to Politics as usual. Corrupt activities start in the planning stages tomorrow. Please pray for Kentucky.
