Last Update: 1:02 pm
“Smoke in luggage, plane evacuated at Sky Harbor”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A woman’s perfumes and lotions managed to catch fire in a checked bag about to be loaded onto a plane at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Tuesday.

The US Airways plane and gate area were evacuated after smoke was seen coming out of the bag in a cargo area on the tarmak.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Airport officials say US Airways flight 200 was preparing to leave for San Antonio when a luggage handler noticed one of the bags scheduled to go on the plane was extremely hot.
That handler set the bag aside, then said it began to smoke, and called emergency crews.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Police say they questioned the owner of the bag, and sent in a hazardous materials team to remove it from the area.

It’s unclear how the woman’s lotions and perfumes could have caught fire, or what would have happened if that bag had been loaded.”

According to reports by the time they got into the bag everything was completely burned. I have read the accounts and really find it hard to believe what they are giving as an explanation.

For something to spontaneously combust requires a strong oxidizer and a fuel with a relatively low combustion temperature. Makes one wonder what she was putting on here body. Definitely not the whole story coming out yet.
