I think the Giants know they have to get younger to compete with Colorado and Arizona, and won't pursue A-Rod. That money could buy a lot of middle relievers - and the Giants had one of the best farm systems in baseball this year. The kids need a chance to come up to the big leagues and develop.
A-Rod is a perfect fit for the Red Sox, IMHO.

There are a few guys I’ve had my eye on that we drafted this year—Brock Bond at 2B, Bruce Edwards in the OF and Chad Rothford at 1B are three guys who I can only hope do well as they go up through the farm system.
Also, there are a few guys playing right now in the Fall League in Scottsdale that are more than likely going to end up on the major league roster—Nate Schierholz and Sergio Romo are a few guys that come to mind off the top of my head.
