Air America leaves austin airwaves
Air America, the home for defiantly liberal talk radio, has quit Austin's airwaves, although it can be heard online or on XM Satellite Radio. Its broadcasting home in Austin, KOKE 1600 AM, now has a Spanish-language format.
Dave Kaufman, Air America's vice president of affiliate relations, said Monday that the shift happened last week as part of an expected change in station ownership.
"Definitely disappointed," Kaufman reacted.
A blogger writing on democraticunder
ground.com was dismayed. "This is a city that is overwhelmingly Democratic, but the right-wing talk radio stations in town consistently get much better ratings."
Air America seeks another home in Central Texas, but nothing is imminent, Kaufman said. He'd welcome tips at dkaufman@airamerica.com.
"If someone can point me in the direction of someone more amenable to picking up our format, I'll take all the help I can get," Kaufman said.

Fixed.
BTW, we oughta write Statesman and complain about putting such a foul-mouthed link on the article for unsuspecting readers.
On the other hand, it's be good to have more people see the DUmmies for what they are.

“Could it be the socialist left was a victim of its own pro illegal immigration stance?”
Yup. Be careful what you wish for. I’d love to know what they are really thinking now that their time slot is now Spanish.

KOKE is actually in Pflugerville, Texas, the home of Nothing.
It is 5000 watts daytime, 700 watts at night.
Translation, I have light bulbs on my house security system more powerful that this station. It’s the kind of station that goes further downhill than it does uphill!

I have XM, and every so often, when I feel that I may have been bad, I punish myself with small snippets of Err America just to see what's going on. The first thing you notice, even over the general paranoid tone of the hosts, is that it just plain sucks. It is horrible radio. Every show, and every host take part in this, pardon the term, mental masturbation, constantly reinforcing one another, and emulating what they think conservative talkers are doing. It's mildly amusing in short doses. Very short doses.

I wish I could share your enthusiasm for the demise of Air America.
However, the LSM has perfected its Anti-Rebublican programming, from almost all the major TV news networks to left wing network shows that always manage to get a dig in against Republicans.
If the networks had ever given George W. Bush a chance, I would say that it would have given the impression of fairness. But from the very beginning of his campaign, they were undermining him. During the elections and after the elections, they were undermining him. Only for a short time after 9-11, they suspended the undermining slightly. I think they have had a huge negative effect on the way that world views the United States. We have to realize that the rest of the world does not see or hear the alternative media to nearly the degree we do in the United States. In reality, the perception George Bush’s Presidency has been damaged by the rest of the media. If a Democrat had done the same exact things as GWB, they would have reported it to be one of the best Presidencies ever. We would be winning the War in Iraq according to them. Anything negative would be covered up by the LSM, just like in 1993-2001.
The fact that Air America is failing seems inconsequential by comparison.
And yet the Left still feels the need to shut down anyone who opposes them with the Fairness Doctrine, etc.

( ground.com was dismayed. "This is a city that is overwhelmingly Democratic, but the right-wing talk radio stations in town consistently get much better ratings." )
And we got a fore shadow of what they ( Democrats in Congress/Hillary/MSM/Liberals ) want to do about it back in the mid-90s when they wanted to " Hush Rush " and recently by going after Rush again, and propose laws to counter Conservative radio getting more ratings and getting it's message and word out.

Here in the central valley of California. Bevis and Butthead readio lasted almost two years.
But listeners were few and far between, sponsors avoided it like the plague and listening to it was a worse experience than Abu Ghraib!
Bon Voyage, losers. Maybe if you paid listeners?
Just a thought.

I would think that Air America would see this as a great opportunity to broadcast its . . . uh . . . “content” . . . in Spanish.

Oh Lordy, there would be a stampede if this were to happen. Hey, on second thought, they should try it.
