I was just outside checking out that moon. It’s close to full. I’m no pilot, but don’t they fly missions at night during times of war?
Since the base is more or less closed off to the public now, whatever they do will be classified for awhile. I would imagine there is some harrowing things being done to stop this fire. If I remember right, they have a helicopter base located west of the 5 freeway. Hard to tell though since they put up walls to block the view of us civilians driving on the 5 freeway. Could be some interesting conflicts on who is responsible for securing San Onofre during a catastrophic event. Hopefully they have worked on those issues out.
