China's Long March to the Moon

Beijing Heats Up Space Race Against Japan This Week;
Communist Party Pride

Excerpt:

Tomorrow evening, the China National Space Administration is scheduled to fire a "Long March" rocket from a launch site in the southwestern province of Sichuan. If all goes well, it will propel a satellite into lunar orbit, an important step toward China's goal of beating Japan to become the first Asian nation to put a man on the moon.

Visitors check the Long March 3A rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwestern China's Sichuan province last week. China plans to launch its first lunar orbiter on Wednesday.

NEVER FORGET

.

Even with our kids being taught that America should not ever win at anything, they still got the message of 9/11 right down to their very souls.

When twisted World Trade Center steel wreakage and a 9/11 surviving FDNY fire truck pulled by 2 flatbed trucks landed at their point of rest at Rancho Cucamonga CA’s Chaffey College 5 years ago...
...t’was our visiting little kids there who first broke out singing ‘GOD Bless America.’ We adults found ourselves simply obliged to follow THEIR lead.

And yet the Freedom-haters amongst us keep preventing our major TV networks from showing tape replays of terrorists destroying our Empire City’s proud Twin Towers ..because “It will frighten our kids”..???

NUTS.

Name the Chinese commercial aerospace company competing with Boeing for commercial contracts.

Name the Chinese military aerospace comany that is creating superior performance and numbers of aircraft in excess to either EADS type companies or even Russia.

Then name the country, equipped with those forces who can come close to threatening the USAF with the kill ratios factored in.

Like I said, Sputnik spurred nationalist scientific progress in the US, and maybe Chinese progress will do the same in the 21st century.

But to gloss over the fact that they have serious cultural and government and infrastructure obstacles in the aerospace field is like saying that Mexico leads the world in concrete and civil engineering materials sciences because every slab crew in Texas includes mexicans.

I’m not challenging that they have aircraft. So does Belize.

There are GM cars built in Mexico. This doesn’t tell you anything about the automotive design technology and capability of Mexico, though.

The method used, for example, in their vaunted anti-satellite missile is critically simpler and orders of magnitude less agile than the USAF ASAT flown here in 1985.

I’m not contradicting -any- of your facts.

I’m challenging the conclusion that the Chinese are farther along than they really, demonstrably are.

Calli,

To be more clear, this article is really talking about China trying to catch up to even Japan’s aerospace industry, which heavily depends on the US.

If and when China ‘beats’ Japan, and they won’t if the Japanese have anything to do with it, then they will be well positioned to BEGIN to TRY to catch up with the American aerospace industry.

But it’s not today.

No matter what the Chicoms say or do, no matter how successful their moon program may be, no matter what achievements they may accomplish, one simple, glaring fact remains.....
WE WERE THERE FIRST!

The vikings landed on North America long before Christopher Colombus ... who gets mentioned in the history books again as the one that discovered America?

It's not who gets there first ... it's who develops the real estate.

I guess that explains all of the Chinese dishwashers' contributions to Hillary's campaign.

I have no idea why you think China has some kind of aerospace industry that can challenge the USA today.

Thanks Bill Clinton for signing those waivers allowing and Loral [Bernard Schwartz] to send our missile guidance technology to the Red Chinese, in exchange for Red Army money to the '96 Clinton campaign.

Did you ever mull over Inhofe's June 23, 1999 chinagate speech?

“Ok. They’re working on one-shot 60’s Mariner type goals while we essentially are running a scheduled local bus service into Earth orbit.”

Yeah, and by the time China launches it’s first manned lunar mission, Taikonauts will be relieved to know that there is a backup plan in case their ship cannot return them to earth...

Thw two Taikonauts can just walk to the nearest lunar resort and purchase two tickets on a Virgin Galactic spaceliner headed back to earth!

I am confident that the Chinese have an espionage program to even surpass ours, because our CIA/NSA are both government run disasters.

What will they do with stolen info, though? PRC and USA diverge at this point. USA has private development firms which compete for gov contracts. PRC has the same cleptocracy running their military 'design groups' as infects their 'private' consumer electronics industry.

You give the same document/design to a chinese engineer and a western cultured engineer, and you'll get vastly different results.

(Even when the chinese engineer went to Western schools and 'stole' western education! LOL!)

Copy, copy, copy x 1 Billion DOES NOT EQUAL Innovate, Innovate, Innovate

In fact, the mere definition of copying means you're following a trail, not blazing one.

Look at what this article is about. It's a launch of a Mariner-style probe. Been there, blazed that.

(BTW, if their espionage is so great, why don't they just use their stolen Lenovo supercomputers to download the hi-res NASA moonmaps and go straight to launching a man up there with stolen Loral rocket technology? Maybe because they're not really as far along as they want their home crowd to think?)

Meanwhile, anyone who thinks China has a first-tier aerospace industry should volunteer to strap themselves to the next two or three launches...good-frikkin-luck. Takers!?!?!

Does anyone really think when the hydrazine hits the catalyst that the chinese are not going to have to relearn some of the low-level implementation basics of Apollo 1, Challenger, Columbia, etc which even we are still re-learning?

And what will those setbacks do to the engineering risk culture in already ultra-conservative China?
