Why Dr. Dobson's right (a Giuliani nomination would be a disaster)
World Net Daily ^ | October 23, 2007 | Jospeh Farah

Posted on 10/22/2007 11:51:09 PM PDT by Ol' Sparky

And, if Giuliani should, by some twist of fate, win the presidency, it will mean the end of Reaganism. It will represent a turning point in the history of the Republican Party and our nation. It will mean the continued deaths of tens of millions unborn babies when we are closer than ever to defeating the abortion culture that Roe v. Wade initiated in 1973.

Should Giuliani succeed, it will represent the end of any hope for the Republican Party to serve as an alternative to the Democratic Party for millions of people like me and Dr. Dobson. That's bigger than two terms of Hillary Rodham Clinton. That's worse even than four or eight more years in the wilderness.

I actually believe it would be worse for America if Rudy Giuliani were elected president than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

If Hillary wins, the reaction to her predictable overreaching will be similar to what we experienced in 1994 – a "Republican revolution."

If Rudy wins, millions will simply defect from the Republican Party. If you want to see the rise of a third party, just be sure to nominate Giuliani and elect him as president.

The long-term consequences of a Giuliani victory are far worse than the consequences of a Clinton victory.

So let's avoid that dire choice now. There's still time to avoid such an unpleasant scenario. Let's just nominate a Republican the Republican base can support.

They need to re-read a few bible stories. I don't see anywhere in the bible where it says we should just give up and turn everything over to Satan if the situation seems hopeless. In fact it says to make the best of the situation no matter how gloomy it is. Do the best we can with what we have and pray. Continue doing God's work with what you have. Imagine what the world would be like today if all the prophets and apostles simply gave up and said the heck with it all, and sat home.

How about this old saw: Be in the world, but not of it.

You need to reread your scripture, FRiend. If given the choice between Hillary and Rudy as the major party nominees, many Christians will vote their conscience. Against BOTH.

What good is winning the white house if by doing so one dooms both one's party and one's soul?

Your statement contained a lack of proportionality and an all-too-common eagerness to find false equivalencies which unfairly besmirch “our guys” by comparing their foibles to Democrats’ criminality.

It seems to me that facing this prospect at all is a clear sign of how deep into the culture of death this nation has descended.

If Rudy is the Rep candidate, I'll be casting my first third party vote in my life. It took no thinking about it - it is an automatic choice based on my principles.

Either candidates must have integrity, or they must hope that the voters do not.

“one’s soul?”

So now employing one’s God given intelligent judgment to vote for a liberal Republican over a Marxist will consign one’s very soul to eternal damnation?

One needs to get a biblical clue!

Those of you who say you will stay home because it will be "the fault of the Republican Party" do not make sense. There are a handful of top tier candidates, Rudy is one of them. If 30% of the voters choose Rudy and 70% split their vote amongst the other top tier guys, yet Rudy wins the nomination, how is that the Republican Party's fault?

It would seem to me that everyone had their say and a candidate to vote for. If you would rather have Hillary than Rudy, fine, but I will be watching for your comments in the future when Bill and Hillary are walking hand in hand with the media fawning over them. When taxes go up and a couple of 40 year old 9th circuit style judges get nominated to the Supreme Court. When US soldier are again killed without fear of reprisal except by lawyers, you can pound another beer and smile at your "Don't blame me, I voted for Perot" bumper sticker.

no but when hillary will say she’s a faithful mother, wife and Christian and Rudy won’t have any response...that’s going to look very bad.

Voting to support ANY candidate who favors a woman’s “right” to slaughter their unborn child is, to many, a mortal sin. For Catholics (like Rudy), it is grounds for de facto excommunication.

Be careful how close you stand to your glass house as you cast these stones, FRiend.

it will mean the end of Reaganism

Someone should tell Farah that Reaganism died with Bush the First, and became a distant memory during the reign of the Stainmaker. Bush the Younger doesn't even appear to have known what it was.

Did you know that God puts up kings and he sets down kings? Did you know that Nebuchadnezzar was a servant of God, at least as far as his governing goes. Read the book of Jeremiah, many of the religious "godly" leaders weren't so Godly and many of the heathen, even pagan rulers did more to advance Gods agenda than his own Jewish leaders.

The self righteous disgust me and Jesus.

It will mean the continued deaths of tens of millions unborn babies when we are closer than ever to defeating the abortion culture that Roe v. Wade initiated in 1973.

I believe this sentence is inconsistent with itself.

If we were close to "defeating the abortion culture" - if a sufficiently large majority of Americans were convinced that abortion was evil and that it was a priority issue - we would simply not have a prospective election choice of Hillary and Rudy.

If, on the other hand, the pro-life movement had spent the last thirty years preaching to its own adherents and trying to win legal battles - rather than trying to win hearts and minds in the outside world.... well then, Hillary vs. Rudy is exactly what one might expect.

We need a commitment from Guilianni to nominate Judges that are strict constructionists and are not supporters of Roe v. Wade. Should be the same thing but I think that it needs to be spelled out. That way if Guilianni is the nominee and he lied to us and nominates an unacceptable S.C. candidate, we burn him on re-election.

Irony abounds.

So exercising one's God-given right of choosing a candidate based on the candidate's position on the murder of unborn babies is self-righteousness? That's an interesting concept...

From your first paragraph, it would seem plausible that a Rudy nomination for the GOP could be God's way of ensuring that Hillary wins, thereby promoting his agenda?

/sarcasm for those who need it.

Unless both candidates favor the slaughter of innocent onborn children but one also favors the dissolution of our national sovereignty, the confiscation of private property and the wanton, ruthless destruction of all dissenters on the Right and the other one does not.
