UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

That’s under a mile from my house. And many are as bad. It’s so surreal :-(
Hunter was just on Kogo saying that a General (didn’t catch the name) had finally gotten a waiver from CalFire(?) so that the helicopters WILL be flying by daybreak tomorrow.
OK, it’s a bet, if the power station goes down, I’ll buy you a Bud, if it stays up, I’ll take the Polly girl.
its is just more BS....
That huge Canadian plane doesnt have a waiver either....I dont know who is footing the bill for that hing.
I remember back in ?1970-71? when much of San Diego County burned down. It was like Armageddon. The whole horizon in a semicircle to the east of us was on fire.
they are showing pendleton on My 13 news in LA
A Bud?
Goodnite......
Thanks. We're far west of the fire and weren't in danger.
Snowing ashes and heavy air is all.
Well, it’s not like your going to win the bet...
LOL! Weathermen! Accurate as always, and so helpful. "There will be weather, or there may be weather. News at 11."
What does that mean? Are they evacuating the base?
doopler radar showing the smoke plume from the new CP fire changing directions..instead of blowing WNW into the ocean its blowing NNW up 5
:0
They said be prepared to evacuate.
Those will warmed. You would not believe the infrared heat these brush flames generate until you feel it. Has to do with the rate of ignition. (ie - they burn fast). The main lines by the plant or freeway are not the main problem. These change as you go inland. Over the hills to the west they are more normal power line towers. Miles and miles of them. I do not know what the defense plan for a major fire was here. Maybe they assumed they would have assets to keep flames from the weaker lines further inland. The flames coincidently when I saw them on fox were parallel to the power lines. All kinds of weird physical forces will be in play when multiple towers along with the lines between the towers are heated by intense infrared radiation.
Unfortunately still a very incomplete list...even for just destroyed in RB. I know people with confirmation their homes and many on their street is gone and the streets aren’t on the list period.
It’s ugly. I’ll post something tomorrow to show you guys something wild.
So what’s the real scoop? I see a whole lot of Hollywood photo-ops—it doesn’t seem right that they can’t get available air resources up and working.
