UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

According to the latest estimates, between 1,000 and 2,000 acres of brush and timber. Nearly 2,000 homes are threatened in the area, and 128 homes have been lost according to news reports.

********
Fox News reported there isn’t much air support due to the many fires burning.
More homes burning in Lake Arrowhead now.
No problem. It’s easy to forget one’s humanity in the face of disasters like this.. dark humor happens.. I can’t imagine the frustration firefighters feel as they can do little moere than get folks out of these areas..
saw a piece earlier this is more like a perfect storm, the winds and conditions, fuel, etc
The Flying Cranes are now flying up there....
Rancho Bernardo,40 homes burnt to the ground and starting other fires.
It’s hard to get a grasp on where these are going up there. It does seem to be going away from the lake and away from Big Bear from what I can find. Running Springs is sort of below and southwest of Lake Arrowhead and there appears to be spot fires there.
Slide Fire
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear Lake, Cedar Ridge Estate, and Running Springs.
the wind is blowing to the west...so yes, it is going away....
Hard to tell.Sad that there are not enought fire fighters.Eight homes starting on fire Arrowhead and tile roofs.
I live in a small town in the midwest that had ocassional flooding in the lower portion of town durning heavy rain events . The government forced everyone out with buyouts. Think anything like that could happen in California?
I think we’re spoiled, in a way. They have done such a great job containing fires in the past.
But with 17? fires now roaring in California, they seem to be outmatched.
In case anyone has a Marine stationed in SoCal, current info is that neither MCRD nor Camp Pendleton are in danger right now. They have suspended outdoor training due to smoke and ash. Otherwise, all is well, thank God.
The California commies would love it if private property was abolished in its entirety.
(Many RINOs seem to agree).
Woohoo! Nevada and Arizona are pitching in resources—planes and helicopters!
Thank you, Nevada and Arizona!
THANK you!!!!
Thanks Nevada & Arizona!!!!!!!
YAHOOOO!!! Thank you Nevada and Arizona!
Do they actually get to buy private insurance on those homes out there?
I wonder how many of those mexican mafia pot farms are burning up....
“Sad that there are not enought fire fighters”
You do not understand the nature of these fires. When they get going sending in firefighters is homicide. There is NO stopping them.
