UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

She said when she heard Solano Beach was on fire, she was going to start packing. When I last spoke to her ( 10 minutes ago) she was going through her cedar chest for baby blankets. She is going to become a grandmother.

The Stevenson Ranch fire is really burning.
They said Valencia was just started an hour ago and has already consumed 1000’s of acres.

It would be interesting to see a list of when exactly all the fires started and where they were. Gonna be hard now for just one team to be working all of So Cal due to all the freeway closures.

Lilly Lawrence, Elvis PresleyWhen Malibu Castle Kashan burned to the ground yesterday, Princess Lilly Lawrence lost her home, family heirlooms, jewelry and presidential memorabilia — but she did manage to save the King’s pants.
TMZ has learned that one of the few things the Princess was able to salvage from the castle was a pair of Elvis Presley’s Army fatigues. But she did lose her other Elvis memorabilia — including 32 original Elvis Presley movie scripts with his handwritten notes in the margins.

Thanks very much! I just called down there and got some more input. I did convince my mom to pack an emergency bag, just in case evacuation orders come her way. She lives in a community that has an evacuation plan—they have buses lined up in case the time comes. For now, I’ll just wait and pray.
I hope your friend is okay! And I hope becoming a grandmother waits until the fires are over! ;-)
Thank God. I hope they can get a handle on that, there’s a lot of homes up there. It does seem they always get a fire when the winds blow up there for some reason.

San Diego Sheriff says San Diego Fires will be the worse in California history. Estimated that over 2,500 homes will be lost. Just estimates by NBC San Diego.
