Ok, I'm not great at math, and particularly bad with compound interest, but:
If there are 3,100 dead from the Iraq conflict, and (say) 1550 (half) of them have/had children who are now in college or will go to college; and figuring the cost of college, average, at $20k per year x 4 years, then how many full scholarships would the MCLEF provide if this letter goes for, say, $4 million (including Rush's matching grant)?
Assume that students will access this over an 18-year period, so there would be compound interest for much of this time?
Without the compound interest, I figure this letter alone has funded the full educations of 40-45 kids.
