As violence falls in Iraq, cemetery workers feel the pinch
By Jay Price and Qasim Zein, McClatchy Newspapers Tue Oct 16, 2:40 PM ET
NAJAF, Iraq At what's believed to be the world's largest cemetery, where Shiite Muslims aspire to be buried and millions already have been, business isn't good.
A drop in violence around Iraq has cut burials in the huge Wadi al Salam cemetery here by at least one-third in the past six months, and that's cut the pay of thousands of workers who make their living digging graves, washing corpses or selling burial shrouds.
Few people have a better sense of the death rate in Iraq

Hi Shelayne
No it is not satire, it is the liberal media hitting a new low that I thought that they cannot hit but they did.

for those of you keeping score at home, that would be 17 x 30 = 510 fewer deaths every single month than during the days of Saddam's Iraq, when I'm sure the trains would have run on time, if there had been any trains. So I guess America's war has already made a lot of Iraqis a whole lot safer, eh? Brilliant!

We need to pay these folks big time to dig a monster grave for the dying MSM.

I once said that if George Bush invented a way to raise the dead, the New York Times headline would be "Bush Policies Devestate Mortuary Industry."
I thought I was joking.

“Why is that a remarkable fact to suppress, class? . . . Right, because it suggests that Iraq today, during the media’s “Iraq civil war,” has 17 fewer Shiite deaths PER DAY in this region than the 150 who died daily during the good old days of Saddam’s “orderly” Iraq during its least bloody period, the 1990s”
Thanks. That was the first thing I wondered about when opening this thread.

This is a serious BARF alert from the liberal media and the liberal democrats.
When there are too many people dying, it’s Bush's’ fault. When there are not enough people dying, it’s Bush's’ fault.
As unhappy as I am with Bush's’ domestic policies, he is doing a great job with Iraq.

The lowest burrial rate in almost three decades spun as a bad thing. <133 per day current compared to Saddam’s lowest rate of <150 per day.
The title should have been:
“Iraq has lowest death rate in three decades”
To: jveritas
I could actually smell the MSM bias.
