I am guessing that Coulter will not be given a prime time slot to speak at the 2008 RNC.

As for the 10% of Jews that do vote Republican, they are gone.

Thanks Ann!

I see you've got your priorities in order. First, politics and elections, then later, way down the list, eternity and salvation.

She was never given a speaking slot in prior RNCs, prime time or not, so there's no loss for her there.

Which translates to something close to 0.3% (.003) of the electorate. Wow. Very damaging indeed.

I hardly think Jewish pubbies are so easily manipulated by Media Matters. Jewish Americans who are, are already pulling the lever for the Rats. :-)

I’ll bet the religious Jews continue to vote for Republican. Coulter only voiced a vernacular statement of the religious doctrine of the Roman Catholic church as well as many Protestant groups. Religious Jews are not likely to be offended.

i think it’s way more than ten percent and what she said was an expression of her religious belief which i found not offensive, actually, but rather of no interest-she wasn’t calling jews the spawn of satan like james wickstrom or hal turner do on a daily basis-coulter has never used anti semitism as a basis for her arguments

I think that was 1% but have it your way. The fact remains that Christians need to know their place.

Not necessarily. All we need is a Sista-Soulja-in-reverse moment in the part of the nominee, uh, I mean Thompson.

The Apostle Paul called the Church, "The Israel of God." (Galatians 6:16) He says very clearly in Romans 9:

For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." 8 In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.

The Apostle Paul said earlier in Romans 2:

Romans 2:28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

That is what Ann was referring to. She did nothing more than express extremely common Christian scripture and doctrine.

Ann's underestimated the bibilical illiteracy of America.

Not gone, but by describing the ideal American as Republican, Christian, where the Jews (I presume others as well) have converted, she makes it difficult to disassociate the right from bigotry. It's important the Republican Party not associate themselves with Ann or her views on any level, I doubt she'll be speaking at the convention.

I doubt it. The 10% of Jews who vote republican probably have more reading comprehension than you do.

I certainly hope not, because then the Dems will have a wonderful weapon to use against the Republicans.

It is more than 10%. Probably not more than 20%, though, on a consistent basis. Most of them will stay, but you'll never see the high 30+% that you saw under Reagan with people like Coulter mouthing off.

Thanks Ann!

No kidding. I have tried over time to convince many friends and family members to see the light, to stop drinking the liberal Kool-Aid, and to vote for a conservative every once in a while (hopefully leading to "all the time"). Stuff like this does NOT help.

Let me say this: Coulter has the right to believe what she wants. She has the right to say what she wants. I don't question those things in any way. I DO question her judgment. Yeah, I know, she sees herself as a bit of a bomb-thrower, someone who's mission it is to stir things up and tick off the other side. She does a good job at that, for certain. But sometimes she is WAY over the top.

Last night I, a Jew who is fairly observant, attended "A Night to Honor Israel" at Pastor Hagee's megachurch in San Antonio. I NEVER once heard anything about the doctrine of supercession, never once did anyone call Jews "non-perfected" or anything like it. In fact, the only people on stage who even mentioned Jesus were Jews. The entire presentation did nothing but warm the hearts of all of the Jews in attendence (many of whom are very observant and faithful Jews, who like me would literally rather die than convert to any other religion). This, despite the fact that Pastor Hagee and the others of his faith in attendence obviously believed that they were on the correct path to salvation. OK, fine, maybe they view things somewhat differently than Coulter (though I'd bet that politically most people there are as conservative as Coulter), but they are still of the same faith - and they win hearts and minds by not throwing bombs, by treating others with a modicum of understanding. Coulter does not display ANY understanding of the historical fear that Jews have of the "we're the only way to salvation, convert or die" philosophy. She's done nothing to win over any Christians to her side, but she has done a bunch to tick off a lot of Jews who might otherwise give serious consideration to her arguments.

She can believe and say what she wants. However, as this incident shows, the saying part often times will have the opposite of its intended effect.

So you are saying that the “10% of Jews that do vote Republican,” will not vote Republican because they feel that Ann Coulter speaks for the Republican Party and disregard the evidence of support of Israel given by the Republican party? Doesn’t sound smart.

Oh yeah, that'll do it. Jewish Republicans are going to walk because Ann expresses a theological opinion. Talk about a bigoted POV.

Hey, how about this: why don't we just muzzle any conservative who might offend the left? That way, we'll just have pundits approved by Donny Deutsch, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, and Keith Olbermann.
