Ann Coulter is Not Helping
American Thinker ^ | October 13, 2007 | Richard Baehr

...The issue with Coulter is not whether she can sell books, but whether she helps or hurts the side of the political debate she claims to support. In my opinion, Coulter has never been a big help to the effort to build a conservative and Republican majority. Her most recent comments on the relationship of Christianity to Judaism, made on the CNBC show " The Big Idea" with Donnie Deutsch on Monday of this week , may prove particularly damaging...

At a time when party affiliation is fraying and a third of Americans consider themselves independent, to build a majority of 50% plus one requires persuasion. Independents will not accept all parts of either party's platform or approach but will choose a candidate for office based on which issues matter to them, and whether one or the other party connects with them on those issues. It is a skill to disagree at times without being disagreeable. Ronald Reagan had it, and it is one of the reasons he became so popular and patched together a large winning coalition . Coulter has clearly decided there is no economic advantage for her in this approach...

In fact she motivates the left by becoming a poster girl for demonizing conservatives.

Anyone who denies this either isn't honest or just isn't paying attention.

And she motivates the right by equal, if not greater, amounts, so whatever negative consequences you prefer to see in her behavior, she gets more than enough positive results in return.

Anyone who denies this either isn't honest or just isn't paying attention.

"Religious Jews are not likely to be offended."

You are probably correct. This guy is probably a communist Jew transplant. I hear there are many of them, including $oro$. Some say half of Israel is occupied by Russian Jews who are not Jews by blood.

“Anyone who believes otherwise is certainly not a Christian.”

Just making up new doctrine on what it takes to be a Christian? God does not want or need to have people like you adding or subtracting from His Scriptures.

This is an interesting issue, because those who take offense to Coulter’s remarks have telegraphed a lack of doctrine regarding the Old Testament, Pentatuch, and their faith through the Messiah, the Word.

This Jew is not indignant. I'm outraged. I respect another's religion and expect others to respect mine.

If you indeed respected Ann Coulter's religion you wouldn't be outraged at all. You see, part of Xhristianity is to eveangelize. For that you can't blame Ann, perhaps Jesus of Nazareth but certainly not Ann.

Should I be outraged that Jews vote overwhelmingly democrat while Israels foremost supporters in America, aside from Jewish folk, are Christians?

I am never outraged when the Adventists, Mormons or Jehovahs Witnesses come calling seeking to evangelize. Where does all of this outrage come from?

Exactly right! Murtha calls our soldiers murderers, and never apologizes, and its another day at the office for him. Algore lies through his teeth about global warming and they give him a Nobel peace prize. As of my post above, Ann IS NOT running for office. Maybe she should. I have had it with the "some is better than best" crowd. My GOD, when you sell a little to the devil you have sold all. If you Honestly think that Ann is anti-semitic then run to the ....demos....or the greens..the libs..anywhere you go is okay because you are too stupid to remain a conservative.

Well I agree that it is a rather shocking way to translate doctrine and I can see why someone would be offended. I question if the “offense” was intentional. Then again, even if unintentional..those looking to take offence would jump on this like a shark to bait.

I know of several Jews who have become Christians but they don't call themselves 'perfected' they are either Messianic Jews or Completed Jews.

In the quotation I saw, I did not see anything to indicate that she was using theological terminology in any sense. I believe that the point was that Jesus is the Messiah prophesied by the Jewish prophets and that, by believing in Him, Christians have followed Judaism to its conclusion whereas Jews (the religion, not ethnicity) have not. In essence, Christians are more Jewish than Jews.

The Christian is redeemed from the curse by the blood of the Lamb of God.

Amen

I think her using the word perfected was probably very offensive to the Jew who was interviewing her.

I find it distinctly more likely that it was the part about doing away with Judaism, but let's face it: the interviewer's beef was that Ann Coulter directly stated essential Christian doctrine.

Can’t agree. She’s brought no one over to our side with her overly bombastic style. The successful conservatives have successfully sold the message and won votes. Ronald Reagan still stands as the shining example.

Reagan genuinely loved America, and Americans, all of them, not just the ones who were agreeing with him at the moment. It showed that Reagan loved America, and Americans. It was obvious to everyone. As a result he not only gathered support from his base, but swept the middle and won so many Democrats over to his cause that it demanded we name them: Reagan Democrats.

Let’s be honest. Ann leaves a sizeable portion of the population with the feeling that she hates them so much that if she had her way, it would look like France in 1794 with liberals and moderates in the guillotines.

Wrong. Anybody who reads these boards knows this isn't true.

Everytime Ann is in the news for stirring up public outrage with her statements, there is immediately a thread on FR with people arguing over whether she went too far or not.

She divides conservatives and many of them disown her comments on a regular basis.

You hear it on conservative talk radio, you see it on TV, and you see on these boards, in threads not unlike THIS ONE.
