Gleen Beck had Pastor John Hagee on his show last night. They discussed the end times. I think this was one of the best interviews I have seen in a long time. It was very interesting. Did anyone see it? Here is the transscript

"Yes but if we are in the end times, and I believe we are, what better way to study and prove prophecy scripture than the head lines and what is going on in the world. For instance, the new chip implant that can be put under your skin. Is it not spoken of in prophecy?"

But that prophecy could just have easily applied to a tattoo in any prior generation. There has always been the technology to institute the mark. Every generation has thought it was the last and could point to just as many Biblical current events as we can to justify it. There's nothing in the Bible to contradict that the end times may be 1000 years away. I do acknoledge, however, that eventually one of these generations will be correct and it could well be ours, so we should certainly live like we are in the last days. You just can't trust a thief in the night.

If you get more into Hagees teachings you will find that he agrees with me on the subject we have been discussing. Amen to what you say though. The only question asked of us on entering heaven is not did you do good, did you give, did you go to church, did you go to Bible studies, but, I gave my son to save you, what did you do with that? To quote the Bible: What must we do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. (not believe and go door to door)

Grant Jeffrey is also one of the better headline chaser authors. If anyone want's a good Biblical commentary on the book of Revelation, Grant Osborne published a masterpiece last year as part of the Baker Exegetical series. It's every bit as good a Mounce's tome but not as long and dry. Really, good stuff.

It really bums me out that Calvin never wrote a commentary on Revelation. I love Calvin's comentaries. In fact, Calvin, the greatest Christian systematic theologian ever, almost never addresses the subject of eschatology at all. Go figure.

I believe our heart is known and this is what gets judged. For me, I go with the best Lawyer I know:

Yeshua, Jesus Christ, or what ever you call him. He is my Lawyer and I need one.

Next: forgiveness (this is what has kept me from bustin' a liberal upside the head). To be forgiven, we must forgive. Forgive me of my trespasses, as I forgive those who have trespassed against me.

Next thing I think about is this: In Heaven there is no sin. I aint draggin my filthy stickin sin into Gods house. While I was here, I learned this:

If you kill, you don't have peace

you steal, no trust

covet your neighbors belongings and you feel jealous

There is a consequence to sin. I believe God will write his law in my heart and I will not want to break it because I know exactly what we get. I have been tempered by the fire.

As far as the Rapture, I believe in it. I would have to restudy it, but at one time from my studies, I believed that there would be some Christians left behind to continue to try to bring the word to the deaf. But I believe a lot of these people get persecuted. But I may remember that all wrong. Like I said, I would have to look into it again.

Maybe XeniaSt can lend a hand with this and correct me where I am wrong? I don't mind, I would like to be correct when I am wrong. If I want to ride north but the horn toad says we should go to Mexico, well I want to be correct. I guess that is what makes me a Conservative.

I take it you did not watch the Hagee interview with Glenn Beck. If you did he gave concrete evidence that this IS the end times. He has one book out that names ten things that are happening today that are not in the past that proves his point that this is the end times. Here are two quickies: Their eyes will melt in their sockets and their tongue in their moth before their body hits the ground. ( this was not possible until we got nukes , in the last days) Also , the two prophets of the Lord will be killed by the anti-christ and their bodies will be hung up and viewed by the whole world. ( only in these last days is that possible with television). Also knowledge will increase by folds. ( man sailed in ships, rode horses and did not fly in all history up to about one hundred years ago. Now we go fast in vehicles, zip across oceans and fly to the moon. Not to speak of the computer. Only in these last days.

You can pick one little thing like substituting a tattoo for what the Bible means but if you look at the overall picture, your argument is small. The evidence is better than O.J. killed his wife, and that was pretty strong.

I think it could come from the ME:

There will be wars and rumors of wars, until there is world peace the end is not yet (something like that)

Ok, all the wars on the planet belong to Islam. A Christian is not going to stand up and tell these people to put down their arms. I don't think a Hindu person will be able to get them to put down their arms. I don't think a Jew will be able to either. I think someone from over there will be the only one who will be able to call them to peace (for a short time and I think that is about 3.5 years).

You are so right. Your post reminds me of something else. I have had some non believers tell me that Christianity is a crutch. I tell them, So, I am a cripple and need a crutch. What’s wrong with that. LOL

Who would have thought that Free Republic would spark a Biblical research project on Saturday but it seems to have. As I read Matthew 24 it seems to me that verses 24:27 et al deal with the return of Jesus Christ and that that return will be obvious to all, unlike the false prophets. And the verses you cite seem to me to say that the world will be oblivious to God up until the Second Coming in the same manner that he people of Noah’s time were oblivious to the hand of God until the flood started. It seems to me that verses 24:40, and 24:41 continue describing the gathering of the elect that was under way in verse 24:31. Anyway, FWIW that is how I understand the passages. A VERY interesting afternoon.

I heard that Hagee once had a “slave week” to raise money. I thot I heard it on a Paul Harvey commentary.

Hadn’t heard that. I had heard that a crazed man entered his Church and fire six shots from 8 feet and missed Hagee.
