Per LA County Fire....Northbound I-5 is collapsing at the scene of a major accident in the truck tunnel.

It’s been ages since I’ve been to the valley. But considering what happened here and the possibility of earthquakes is that a good idea?

“Tunnels” in the sense that they run under the norht and south bound traffic lanes.
Fox and Friends now is covering the all important search for a new Elvira.
It’s the little red diamond where the 5 and 14 intersect in the top left corner. A LOT of trucks come in through there.

(Nobody’s yet said ‘Terrorism not suspected’, so it’s a pretty fair bet that it’s not terrorism....)
That situation there really sucks....reminds me of the nightmare commute after the Northridge quake when for months I'd leave home at 3am to get to work by 8. It's pretty much a "one way in, one way out" bottleneck interchange for those in Santa Clarita and points north or east.

My memory is a little hazy, since it's been over 5 years that I've traversed that area. That and the fact that I "back doored" this thread when I saw it.
Any chance that the structural weakness will close off the Metrolink tracks? I know the trains still ran during the demo/reconstruction after Northridge.
I just saw the local KNBC newscast.
They said the fire is still burning inside the tunnel and they have no idea how many people might have been trapped in there. 10 people did run out of the tunnel and survive. They are counting at least 15 big rigs involved and at least one passenger vehicle. They don’t know how many more trucks were in the 1/8 mile long tunnel that was “packed with trucks.”
How long before Bush is blamed for this?
There was a similar ‘accident’ in CA with a tanker truck exploding under an Interstate bridge about the same time period that Interstate bridge collapsed in MN.
There seem to be allot of ‘accidents’ involving bridges and tanker trucks.
