I found a forum up here in Oregon where all the news channel employees rant about each other and one guy brought up the fact that Tony the helicopter guy makes his reports from the helicopter all morning long but rarely is in flight.
So I looked and sure enough out the window you can just make out that he is sitting on the ground.
Hah hah hah that never occured to me. They just use the highway cams to give you the feel of them flying around when he is actually just sitting in the chopper on the ground.
plus there are 66 other CHP incidents right now...and hardly anyone to respond.
I would hate to be in that lineup of trucks. Never knowing if the line will ever get going, but always having it in the back of your mind that it could move withing the next 10 seconds.
Wow. KNX just said that too - only one person missing at this time. 10-20 people hurt from minor to 2nd degree burns at hospital.
There are a lot of people not getting to their nightshift jobs....LA will come to a standstill by morning...no doughnuts or bagels
I still suspect that the driver that’s missing is sleeping it off in someone’s cab so that he’ll be clean when the CHP tests him when they get ahold of him.

I live very near where 5 highways converge and diverge. Early one morning I looked out and saw all 4 of my city’s traffic copters hovering in loose formation, all pointing the same way as they broadcast the morning rush hour at the same time. All that was needed was “The Valkyrie” blasting out of loudspeakers. :o)

That sucks. Just for safety, the Navy has great big helicopter gunships at Pt. Mugu. Those are the ones with 6 blades. Request those for assistance. Edwards is too far away. They can pull trucks apart and lift them.
According to Left-Wingers, all those navy craft are in Iraq...they can’t be used in this time of emergency.
Those aren’t gunships, they’re transports. CH-53E heavy-lift helicopters.
That’s not what’s really needed though. CalTrans needs to rent some S-64s from Erickson Air-Crane in Oregon:

People are approaching the accident doing 70 mph so Altadena CHP have told dispatch that they’re leaving the scene because of officer safety reasons.

Lived in Walnut Creek area and used that tunnel when taking the son to medical clinics.
That was a horror of a tunnel firebomb.
They swarmed on Snoop Dog when he came out from a Steakhouse and he said “Dang is Britney here ya’ll”
