A moot point with me as I have no phone line but does DirecTV offer all of the HD channels as part of a package or are they ala carte?
I don’t have a phone line either. That has nothing to do with getting DirecTV or HD. When I ordered I told them I only had cell phone service at home and no land line. They were happy to give me a waiver. The phone line connection is only for billing of pay-per-view movies. I have a blockbuster online account so I don’t use that.
Yep.
I have one tivo box connected to my phone line, but the other tivo box in another room is not connected and works just fine. My daughter doesn’t have her tivo box connected to the phone line either in her house. She didn’t tell Direct TV about it and it works fine also.
The newer receivers appear to be able to "phone home" via internet, if you want to hook them up that way.
Also, as long as you pay the extra for HD service (~$10/month), you get the HD channels for whatever tier of service you've otherwise purchased. The only exception, as far as I know, is the NFL Sunday Ticket package, which requires the "superfan" add-on ($99) to get HD.
Package deal. One mothly price gives you all of the High Def, except for the HBOs, Showtimes, Stars, etc. of course. Subscribers to the HBO package, for example, will automatically get the High Def versions of the HBO channels if they have DirecTV’s High Def service.
