I’d suggest you reread Reagan’s 11th Commandment.

It’d be a shame if you spent that much time tearing down the man who might be our only hope of avoiding President Hillary Clinton.

I’ve said nothing derogatory about Hunter, outside of his electability. He’s a good man, with good credentials, but not enough supporters to make much difference. Thompson is equally qualified ... and actually has a shot at winning this thing.

Hunter isn’t the only conservative in the race ... there are equally conservative candidates with a FAR better shot at winning this thing.

Tancredo has a shot at winning? Ohhhh, Fred is a conservative. With a shot at winning. Those are the only two conservative candidates I know of and I strongly question that Thompson is equally conservative to Hunter.

>Why has Hunter never held a leadership position in Congress or elsewhere?<
That's a "snide question"? Please explain to the rest of us FReepers just exactly which part of that question isn't a legitimate request for information. Some people feel that a candidate for POTUS needs to demonstrate leadership in more ways than being "the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Coimmittee."

I do not agree with that, it sounds good, but we will not win without all the voters that voted in 2004. Kerry came close and he was a total buffoon.

That is just the way it is.

I myself was not impressed with this debate. It didn’t do much for any of them. Mostly because the economy is never the top issue in an election year, unless it is bad like during the Carter years.

We are yet awaiting that one debate that will set people aside, the make or break moment. I fear it will not happen unless we have Gop moderators that can hit on important GOP issues.

Lets hope he goes Turd Party. He will only pull 1% Repubs since none of us take him serious but may get 40% Dems who agree with everything he says. In addition he could carry the State of Iran.

Pray for W and Our Troops

And if Hunter is so insignificant, I wonder why you go oyut of your way to insult his supporters.
Please post an insult to Hunter by me on this thread. Remember: Stating facts may upset you, but stating them does not constitute an insult. I asked you a legitimate question: How can Hunter expect to win a national presidential campaign with a Communications director who runs a string of Mexican restaurants located in southern California?

Calling Hunter supporters names.

Ridiculing us because we believe in a set of conservative principles that Duncan Hunter provides.

Seems detrimental if what you seek is unity.

Already published by AFP in it's analysis of the debate just concluded. It's posted on FR already.

But Romney's rivals will pounce on his response when asked whether a US president should request authorization from Congress before launching a military strike at any future Iran nuclear weapons plant. "You sit down with your attorneys and tell you want you have to do" he said, before adding the president always had to act in the best interest of the United States.

sorry goofy, but I’m perfectly calm and you can’t argue your way out of a paper bag... so a winning candidate?? Boy that worked for all your Rino buds in Kallifornia with Ahhhnold didn’t it, hmmmm... or maybe you haven’t heard that a winning candidate is spending at three times the rate of the guy that just had to go!

try taking that vow, it will save us all bandwidth that you are wasting.

That may be difficult given that you just arrived.

Are you saying you haven't previously?

I agree. I saw a great many RINOS on that stage tonight. Fred is refreshing in that he speaks to you and me, not to Chris. The media is scared to death of this man. He will not be controlled by them and will not fold into their mold. They called Reagan slow and dumb and just an old actor. Remember?

>> Tancredo has a shot at winning? Ohhhh, Fred is a conservative. With a shot at winning.

Thompson is the person I had in mind.

>> Those are the only two conservative candidates I know of and I strongly question that Thompson is equally conservative to Hunter.

I’ve yet to find a perfect candidate in this race - as Christ has not yet declared his candidacy. I’ve had policy disagreements with most, if not all, candidates ... but Thompson strikes me as the candidate with the best blend of traditional conservatism and actual electability.

I’ve seen little appreciable policy difference between Thompson and Hunter, and a huge difference in popularity. Whatever minor disparities may exist can certainly be overcome with a glance at the odds of victory.
