Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 – Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread

CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.

Romney did sound canned but his delivery I think made up for it.

Every question she’s asked has been about something negative, and she looks like if she smiled, half her head would fall off.

If I accused her unfairly of being a leftist, I apologize.

Post game analysis: Hunter started strong and then got ignored/marginalized at the end. Romney stopped pandering and had a few good answers towards the end. Won’t comment on Rudy because nothing he said really stuck in my mind. Tacredo bumbled through his answers and yelled to get his point across. Ron Paul is a fool. Huckabee: no comment, not impressive. Fred started out stilted but opened up and did a good solid job of fielding questions.

I like this part, where the mics are open and the politicians are chatting away...Poor John McCain. No one is talking to him! :-(

I don’t think JimRob would appreciate you speaking for him. You are obviously wrong in one respect. Thouhgh JimRob is anti-Paul, he has not chosen to purge the Paul supporters.

Well, I hate to say it, but most joint MBA/JD degrees are only 3 three years.

If he took longer, he’s by far the exception.

Fred has a habit of pulling on his nose. It drives me crazy.

Overall, great performances and Fred tied it up with humor. He looked younger at the end, too. :)

Final C_of_D analysis -

Overall winners - Mitt and Hunter.

Held their own and got some good shots in - Rudy and Fred.

McCain - time for him to drop out. Same for Huckabee.

Ron Paul and Tancredo - I don’t bash them but the bad answers they gave about supporting the party nominee caused irreparable damage.
