Thats perfectly reasonable. I wish Huckabee had a better track record on illegals - he really is not anywhere near as good as Duncan Hunter on this issue. It just looks like Huckabee is the candidate that the religious right is going to unify around and if they do so then he is the one candidate that might have a chance of actually defeating Rudy T. McRomney for the nomination. For that reason, I am inclined to cut him some slack. Also, he seems like a man with good moral character (unlike Rudy) so I doubt that he would completely break his campaign promise to crack down on illegal immigration.

Well, my bottom line is this. I will vote for whoever wins the nomination, with just a couple of exceptions. Frankly, Huck was not any worse than Rudy T. McRomney on illegals. But I have a few other bones to pick with him. I’m not even worrying about Hillary until after we select our guy.

The Taliban think they have “good moral character” as well. Huckabee believes the state should regulate behavior that only harms the individual.

For me, the issue is freedom and personal responsibility, meaning close the borders, send the illegals home by cutting out welfare payments, removing anchor baby status, reducing taxes and regulations, removing the nanny state, and so on.
