you sure you aren’t referring to Scalia?. I’ve heard for a while that those two are considered the closest friends on the court

Clarence Thomas' sense of humor is terrific. Whenever I am on the phone with someone and laughing repeatedly, my wife usually asks me afterward, "Was that Clarence?" It usually is.

Great line!

I deeply admire both these Thomases.

Born in material poverty beyond anything experienced even by people on welfare today, Clarence Thomas was raised with an abundance of discipline and character-building that would pay off in later life.

And did so without liberal help. In LibWorld, this is an unacceptable, criminal act. Liberals only like minorities if they "know their place." If, like Justice Thomas, they wander off the plantation, then the libs regrd them as just 3/5 of a person, if that.

I was surprised (from that 60 Minutes segment) of how the Supremes are so isolated - though Congressman Billybob has said pretty much the same thing. Judge Thomas obviously gets out and about in his RV to see what we commoners have to say. Way cool! A huge part of our problems with our judiciary branch is the judges seeing themselves as a separate and privileged class above we mere mortals because of the way we set them up.

I was behind a Porche sporting a “Judicial” plate today and knew that individual garnered as much deference as someone driving a police car - even if that person was a trust fund case whose position was bought. Judges on all levels need a policing system like the other branches where the criminals among them can be removed through impeachment, recall or other means. This “judge for life” thing is too abused to allow to continue. They are just humans.

When you yhink about it, it is real easy to be a race hustler like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. What could be easier. The intellectual conclusions and the choice to follow them, as Justice Thomas has done, is so much more difficult. Look at the price he has had to pay. Someday Clarence Thomas will be recognized as a true original and a great role model for people of all colors who choose to take the more difficult, but more honest path.

I’m so thankful to know that young people in this country are getting to hear Justice Thomas speak to them in person.

His book will be a good gift to give to the school library in my hometown.

It would be hard to think of anyone whose portrayal in the media differs more radically from the reality than that of Justice Clarence Thomas

I found a NYSlimes on a bench Friday and read the editorial attack on Justice Thomas. It was obscene, as would be expected of the juvenile delinquents who run the Slimes. Vicious and twisted, It made Thomas out to be the "hate"monger because he had the temerity to give his side of the confirmation atrocity perpetrated by white liberal bigots.

Those damn conservative darkies, they just don't seem to know their place, do they Pinch.

It’s hard to believe that even the NY Slimes would write a hit piece like that about a Supreme Court Justice. Their days as they know it are numbered.

“I’ve never understood why a Republican Administration doesn’t use Dr. Sowell in a high profile position such as Secretary of Commerce of Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors.”

That’s probably fortunate for Dr. Sowell. The left would crucify him like they’ve tried to do with Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice. They just don’t fit their mold of ‘real” black leaders like Al Sharpton, the Reverend Jackson, or William Jefferson(Democrat Louisiana). See Comment # 30.

What is ironic and funny is that while listening to the Rush Limbaugh interview, I thought that this man sounds like Thomas Sowell. Not just the timbre of his voice but in the things that he said.

The media and the elites have a problem with those who refuse to play their game.

I have the book but have not yet read it. I can relate to the poverty Justice Thomas describes. Up to when I was 6, we lived in a house that while it had electricity, had no running water. We used slop buckets and outhouses. We were on welfare. Even when we finally moved toa nice house, we were still on welfare. I can look back now and see why I was treated the way I was by the other kids and adults. Unlike Justice Thomas, I did not have anyone to instill discipline into me as I was growing up. I have done alright but still have some lingering problems which I am still trying to shake off. The majority of the poor in America today have no idea what being poor really means.

Thomas Sowell has stated on many occassions that he does not want to work with any administration.

. I suffered through Clarence Thomas’s hearings for him.

Ditto. He won my respect and continues to do so. I am an OU alum and Anita Hill made me want to bury my head. But every college, everywhere, is crawling with talentless wantabes whose only talent is backstabbing.

I saw a speech Thomas gave on C-SPAN a few years ago and he once quoted Eddie Murphy and everybody laughed.
