Thank God for modern medicine. It wasn’t that many years ago that a ruptured appendix was a death sentence. Now it means three or four days in the hospital. Still, not a fun experience. Believe me, I know. If I had lived in an earlier age I would have been dead at the age of 53. Instead I was hiking in the mountains two weeks later.
Prayers for your granddaughter for a quick, uneventful recovery.

Thank you thank you everyone, FReeper prayers are so wonderful! She has had no fever since this morning, she is allowed to eat some small amounts. No appetite, still VERY tender, can hardly walk to the br but feeling better, working with her respiratory therapist so that she doesn’t get pneumonia; made a couple of little jokes, has asked again for communion.

Antibiotic changed to rocephin, rented some movies, got a bunch of presents. She is still too calm, but her hands were cool this evening, nurses are outstanding. Nurse showed her how to fake v-tac on her monitor—LOL!

It’s so amazing what a difference 15 hours can make—her skin looks normal, her eyes aren’t there yet, her smile is still a little forced. She is comfortable in the hospital gown, which is not normal. But we are so encouraged! She wll be in the hospital until at least Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, must finish all the IV meds and then stay afebrile for 24 hours. She’s not able to take enough fluids, so they are still giving her IVs of normal saline. Her BP which was high is now down to a normal range, another very good sign.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I am going to be able to sleep tonight; she is expected to continue to improve, and I am so grateful to everyone who prayed. She is my heart.
