Paul Won't Condemn Obama on Flag Pin
ABC News ^ | October 5, 2007 | Teddy Davis

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said Friday that he would not condemn Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for dropping his American flag lapel pin in the wake of the Iraq war.

"A lot of people might condemn him," said Paul, "I'm neither going to condemn him nor praise him because I don't know his inner motivation."

"He may be very, very sincere in what he is saying," he added.

Paul, who, like Obama, opposed the Iraq war before it began, made his comments to ABC News two days after the Illinois Democrat told ABC's affiliate in Cedar rapids that he stopped wearing an American flag lapel pin in the run-up to the Iraq war because he believed the pin had become a "substitute" for "true patriotism."

If you are speaking of Obama, I don’t know. If you are speaking of Paul, it might help his campaign.

"I'm neither going to condemn him nor praise him because I don't know his inner motivation."

Pandering to the moonbat base, plain and simple. The Stars and Stripes to them is like sunshine to a vampire.

I don’t condemn him either.

I certainly do.

Any politician who will not wear a American flag lapel pin should resign immediately.

Is is completely disrespectful and a political stunt to use the flag as a political statement while we have men and women in uniform in harms way.

If Hussin Obama really wants to stop the war let him filibuster the Senate until they cut the funding

New scene - Kramer in the AIDS walk.

WALKER #1: Hey, where's your ribbon?

KRAMER: Oh, I don't wear the ribbon.

WALKER #2: Oh, you don't wear the ribbon? Aren't you against AIDS?

KRAMER: Yeah, I'm against AIDS. I mean, I'm walking, aren't I? I just don't wear the ribbon.

WALKER #3: Who do you think you are?

WALKER #1: Put the ribbon on!

WALKER #2: Hey, Cedric! Bob! This guy won't wear a ribbon! (Cedric and Bob turn around and glare at Kramer.)

BOB: Who? Who does not want to wear the ribbon? (Kramer is frightened.)

Ron Paul is a nut case in the vein of Ross Perot.

Of course not! Libertarians believe you can do anything you want and it should be okay and legal.

For a short period after 9/11, many of the talking heads in the MSM wore flags, then decided to stop. The explanation was that they thought it demonstrated a bias that had the appearance of compromising their journalistic integrity. (I will pause here for the laughter to subside.) I agreed with their action for a different reason-it is hypocritical for them to attempt to show any solidarity with America or its people. They are not pro-American and it’s inconsistent for them to brandish a symbol that may suggest to the contrary. Removing the flags from thier lapels was a rare and uncharacteristically honest gesture.

As I wrote on an earlier post, that was a great episode of Seinfeld. Miss Didi has a picture from the episode.

IMO, wearing a chinese lead filled american flag pin does not make anyone more or less patriotic as does someone making a paid speech about the horrible affects of global warming, only to hope on a private jet and zoom off to the next paid speech.

Paul is more than likely attributing Obamasama’s strange behavior to “what you can expect from those people” and not to any sort of patriotic fervor at any time.

So if not-wearing the flag is a political stunt, then wouldn’t wearing the flag also be considered a political stunt?
