DALLAS -- Two teens are dead after police said they tried to rob a security guard patrolling a shopping center parking lot overnight.
Police said three men approached the security guard and told him to get out of his car just before midnight Thursday in the Golden Triangle Shopping Center near the intersection of West Redbird Lane and Highway 67.
The security guard obliged and then fired his rifle at them, hitting two of three, according to police. One of those shot by the guard was Sergi Vann, 19, who died shortly after arriving at Methodist Medical Center.
The other was identified as DeTavias Davis, 17, who was able to drive away after being shot. Police said another car crashed into his, and he also died shortly after arriving at Methodist Medical Center.
The third man returned to the scene, where police placed him in handcuffs and took him away. No charges have been filed.
The security guard is unharmed, according to police.

With an SKS? Probably bump-fire and pivot....
Always glad to get free advice from an attorney.
I wonder what these mothers, who were so proud in naming their babies, are doing while their offspring are roaming the streets at night.
I also think, if we REALLY want to save energy, and taxes, TURN OFF the damn public street lights after 9 or 10 pm. Most people would be off work by then, and the thugs would have to carry flashlights to see. THEN, we would know where THEY are.
Wow....that would be a great FEDERAL law.
Wouldn’t ya love to see a video of this?
I’ll bet the expressions on their faces was priceless!
Two out of three.......
Ummmm.......that equates to about a 66% average.
The Security Officer had the right to defend himself against these perps
Especially with a rifle in close quarters with the perps
Now ya did it, the ACLU will be all over you, pal....
Racial profiling......
You forgot to put your PC hat on, didn't you?
Every law abiding citizen in this state has the right to carry a loaded long gun. No license or registration is required. However, it must not be displayed in a "threatening manner" (well, until you use it).
In TX, security guards often supply their own weapons. Also, the question is automatically referred to the DA in the case of a shooting.
This happened in SOUTH DALLAS! Never stop on I-20 where it goes through South Dallas after dark. (word of warning)
The guard was sitting in his car outside of a Dollar General store. The perps approached his car and told him to get out. he did. They died, (2 anyway)then the car went down an embankment onto US 67 where it was T-boned by a passing motorist.
The guard was a young black man, so they might have known each other. Doubtful as he was mid to late twenties.
Oh yea, Texas has castle doctrine. No need to cower in fear or run away as in New York. It applies wherever your person is.
Nope. Never have been PC. Never will be.
I believe in the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.
A good lever action is my preferred rifle for home / self defense.

I used to volunteer at Parkland Hospital’s ER..they came in every Friday and Saturday Night. In fact, one time, a man came in DOA. He had tried to stop his brother from doing a drug deal, and the druggies shot both of them. I was with his family, going up to the waiting room on two, and the elevator door opened up and it was the brother that had been shot. He had a bullet hole in his forehead and was still walking around. Needless to say, I advised him that he should see a Dr. His Mother was at a loss of words. Absolutely a true story.
